Publisher's summary

The must-have companion to Bill O'Reilly's historical docudrama Legends and Lies: The Patriots, an exciting and eye-opening look at the Revolutionary War through the lives of its leaders

The American Revolution was neither inevitable nor a unanimous cause. It pitted neighbors against each other as loyalists and colonial rebels faced off for their lives and futures. These were the times that tried men's souls: No one was on stable ground, and few could be trusted.

Through the fascinating tales of the first Americans, Legends and Lies: The Patriots reveals the contentious arguments that turned friends into foes and the country into a war zone. From the riots over a child's murder that led to the Boston Massacre to the suspicious return of Ben Franklin, the "First American"; from the Continental Army's first victory under George Washington's leadership to the little-known Southern guerilla campaign of "Swamp Fox" Francis Marion and the celebration of America's first Christmas, The Patriots recreates the amazing combination of resourcefulness, perseverance, strategy, and luck that led to this country's creation.

Told in the same fast-paced, immersive narrative as the first Legends and Lies, The Patriots is an irresistible, adventure-packed journey back into one of the most storied moments of our nation's rich history.

Introduction read by Bill O'Reilly.

Couldn't stop listening!

It is the best history book we have heard on audiobooks. We are both history buffs and my husband and I didn't want to stop listening to it.

Great history lesson

All the stuff we were never taught in school…
Love the true story nature of so many big figures presented in a realistic and modern view. Would love for my children to understand how this country was built by real people in real struggles striving for such big ideas! Great experience

Very informative. Orielly delivers again. Look forward to another in his series! Only problem is deciding which one.

Fascinating Historical Review

Would you consider the audio edition of Bill O'Reilly's Legends and Lies: The Patriots to be better than the print version?

For the first time I listened to sections of a book more than once. This book served both as a review of historical events whose details had been forgotten and revelation of details about people and events that were never in history books. I both enoyed and learned a lot from listening to this book, a great combination. Often after listening to a book I wish for the printed version so that I can more easily return to passages, but the organization of the chapters in this book make a redundant printed copy less desirable.

Can't finish

The writing is Not on the same level as the "Killing ..." series. Boring. This narrator makes it four times worse. I have never written a review on audiobooks. But can't recommend this by any means. Will not finish this one.
