"This is a baseball book, but whether Creamer intended it or not, it's much, much more." (Sports Illustrated)
Would you try another book from Robert W. Creamer and/or Tom Parker?
Yes. Creamer is a fine author
What did you like best about this story?
All the background about the goings on in baseball in 1941
What three words best describe Tom Parker’s performance?
A typical narration by someone who was not familiar with the sport of baseball and who mispronounced many names of players who are household words to those of us who have been baseball fans for many years. In particular, he repeatedly referred to Pete Reiser of the Dodgers as Riser, rather than Reeser. This is very typical of narrators who are not overly familiar with the material they are reading. The pronunciation of name intensive sports stories should be reviewed before the book is recorded.
Was Baseball in '41 worth the listening time?
Any additional comments?
Just disappointed by the narrator and his lack of familiarity with baseball.
