A wonderful addition to my digital liberary.

Generally, this book is a wonderful combination of political, military, and social history unlike others of that crucial period because it never loses sight of the personalities of the people who directed the fate of the war and the way those personalities influenced what they did.

Superb Biography by CT.

Those who returned from the Peace Corps were students in my classes--highly motivated, eager to participate in community development, and aspiring to public service. Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren were a remarkable and talented persons who provided a great service to this country and served as a source of inspiration to those of my generation. Reading this biography was a trip down memory lane.

Perfect to read biographies...

This is my loving book as I am a history lovers. A readable biography on a largely forgotten presidents. I enjoyed it as part of my project to read biographies of all American presidents. I could not find a biography of Van Buren in my local library system.

Really a good overview.

The writing in this book flows very well in the wisdom that it was easy reading. The author does not delve into a lot of detail about Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren but gives enough to give one a glimpse of both's life.

necessary to listen to learn about two presidents.

Two topics about which I would like more detail about Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren efforts to build a political party and his presidency. The author says in the beginning of the book that there is not a lot of detail preserved about Van Buren and later specifies that even in Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren’s autobiography he didn't say much about party building. I have better knowledge of Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren’s life, which covers the extent of my interest in the president. If one is interested in greater detail about Van Buren's political career it will be necessary to look elsewhere.

Good content, rough read.

The writing is solid and a good, impartial, summary of complex presidents, in complex times.

The performance sounded like the narrator didn’t take the time to read the manuscript through first before recording. Lots of mispronunciation of relatively common words, and awkward delivery.
