Publisher's summary

They were both scheming to get out of the marriage before the date was even set.

In the rugged Highlands, a proud warrior is about to fall. Highlander Brus MacLeod doesn't want the betrothal forced upon him, and he certainly does not intend to take the woman as his wife, no matter who commands it. He has every intention of driving the unexpectedly feisty lass to break the marriage contract and has no plans to let her into his head, bed, or heart.

But then the funny, warm slip of a woman invades his home, his life, his soul, and he finds himself unable to forget her, even when she seems to have utterly forgotten him.

loved these people!

Timothy Campbell is my absolute favorite narrator, especially for Scottish romances. Royce and Brus are fantastic heroes, and Eve and Seville are wonderful heroines. Now, I want Thor's story, please.

Good story to pass the day

A good story with good suspense. The story was written well enough for me to listen to the book in one day.

The best story yet!

Timothy Campbell is the best narrator of Scottish stories! These characters and story line are fabulous and this particular story is one of my all time favorites! Can’t wait to get book three in this series!

this was a difficult listen

there are parts that if you are not listening closely you become very lost. if you listen intently it's a good listen. I like to listen while I clean the house or drive so I caught myself rewinding.

Loving the series

Again, Ms. Johnstone has brought a new book that enthralls and entices the reader to get lost in a world that the reader does not want to leave. Characters that are delectable and real, a storyline that is original and exciting to keep anyone involved and wanting more. Timothy Campbell's voice is so wonderful I could listen to him all the time.

Bruce, Bruce, Bruce

Aye but you be Bonnie! Swept me off me feet ye did! Ye are but what a lass aches for. Ye make me yearn for a place, I never seen, but it feels like I be going home! Protected, loved and cherished is to be loved by a Scottish Highlander. Beautiful story

Unresolved Issues

I am really enjoying this series, which are the first books I’ve read by this author. Her characters are well-developed, even the secondary ones. The plot is compelling and draws you in.
However, and it’s a big however, I have a big negative with the books. Book 1 had an unresolved situation which I thought might be addressed in the 2nd book. Not so. In addition to that, it has left me with several questions regarding some of the events in this one. It’s made me angry, quite frankly. I invest in the stories I read and I want to know the outcomes. This one especially kind of just wrapped up, leaving many details hanging. That left me hanging. I’m giving it 3-1/2 stars and I will read the third, final book in the series. Right now I have a sour taste in my mind.
On a pleasant note, Timothy Campbell is terrific as the narrator.

Captivating Story

Brus and Sebille did not want to be wed; they did not want anything to do with each other, but they are caught in a web of intrigue. Their story is an adventurous tale filled with betrayal, blackmail, treacherous plots, and revenge. All kinds of sparks fly when these two meet. The only reason Sebille is part of her brother’s plot is to protect her sister. They do not mean to fall in love, but the chemistry is undeniable. Just as they work up the courage to share their feelings, something happens to cause Sebille to disappear. Why did she leave? Will Brus be able to find her? Can they find the path to happily ever after?

Highland Reckoning is a captivating story. Both the storyline and the characters are well-written and complex, and brought to life by Timothy Campbell in his always first-rate narration. I love Brus and Sebille. I am glad they were able to see that they were perfect for each other. Not every HEA is easy and sweet, but they are all worth the work. Great read!
