A kidnapping, a ransom, and a promise of blood.

Kidnapped while journeying with her maid, Morven, Louise McGregor finds herself the prisoner of the charming rogue Colin McKay. As she waits for her father to answer Colin’s demand for ransom, she begins to see there is more to her captor than meets the eye. The threat of war looms between the McGregors and the Ross clan, but will Louise’s father get to her in time, or will Colin sell her to the highest bidder?

Worse still, when the Ross clan show up in force, it may not be for the reasons she expected. Little does she know Hamish Ross - son of the laird of the Ross clan - has revenge on his mind when it comes to Colin McKay.

As things heat up and swords are drawn, will Colin get out with his life intact? Worse still, will he finally have worn Louise down with his charms?

I’m so glad it’s not virtual voice. I hate to complain about the actors, but the male part needed some help with his energy level

The female part was okay, but the male part sounded like he was a little slow or drugged. Not any spark or energy

The male narrator was annoying with his voice, very unnatural phrasing and wrong use of pitches. At times he sounded like an engine trying to rev up. Very difficult to listen to let alone follow the story. I gave up after the 13th chapter. The female narrator was fine, I don’t think the overall story is bad, I couldn’t continue on.

Terrible male narrotor.

Highland Ransom is the first book in a new series by Lindsey Logan. The story is set in medieval Scotland and follows Collin who has no family and has been forced into committing crimes, such as theft and robbery, in order to survive. His life leads him to cross paths with Louise who is the daughter of a Laird. Collin thinks he will be set for life when he sees the opportunity to kidnap Louise and ransom her back to her father.

What’s in the story?
❤️Sex: None, only a couple of kisses. Sexual assault is discussed, but in a very veiled manner.
🗡Violence: Fighting between men with knives. A female character is knocked out by a man with a rock and left for dead.
🤬Profanity: None.
🍺💊🚬Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: Characters drink whiskey and ale.

I love the dual narration. Andrew McDermott and Jenn McGuirk do a great job! Looking forward to hearing more from them. If you’re looking for a clean, smut-free story that is appropriate for readers 14 and up, this is a good choice. It seems to be a good start to this new series. 📚

Highland Ransom by Lindsey Logan - a charming enemies to lovers medieval highland romance
Great fun. An opportunistic kidnapping of Louise MacGregor, the Laird's daughter, brings both danger and delight to Colin McKay, a rogue living in the forest. Colin has to negotiate a ransom, his captive's grasp of reality and avoid loosing his head and his heart. I loved this feisty but spoilt heroine and her awakening to the sordid reality of what goes on outside the castle walls. This is a sweet, clean romance. To be savoured.

The dual narration by Andrew McDermott and Jenn McGuirk bring this delightful romance to life. I love the authentic Scottish accents. Andrew McDermott is one of my favourite narrators and this is another great listen. Highly recommended.
