Highland Fling......Don't give up on this one!
Highland fling is a well written story that has plenty of history and a romance that is sweet and unforced.
The main characters, Maggie and Edward, are from very different cultures and backgrounds. They learn how to challenge each other and how to resolve family and society issues together. The minor characters add a lot of interest and depth to the story. This book had just enough mystery, intrigue, and romance to keep my attention.
My only negative is that this book felt slow paced for the first half. Because the beginning devotes so much time to character development and history it feels sluggish. The narrator reads a bit slow too which adds to the slow pace feel. Thankfully, the second half speeds up and reveals a great story. I'm glad I didn't give up.
If you enjoy true Historical stories give this one a try. Just make sure you listen on a day when you can sit back, relax, don't give up, then enjoy

Truly liked this book...however
Loved this series. It is very well written and holds your interest throughout. The characters are all interesting in their own right.
THE NARRATOR...was excellent. Her narration was very well done and voices excellent.
MY ONLY comment on this series is I would like just a little more steam in my romance books. Just a wee bit more!!!
DO I RECOMMEND THIS series...absolutely!

Good Book
This was a good 1st book. The narrator was good and the story was interesting. It had just enough twists to keep me wondering what was next, along with just enough action and intrigue. I would have liked it, if it had moved along a little faster but just enough is better than to little.

Misogynistic and slow
I cannot finish this. I strongly dislike listening to her be cowed into submission by his husbandly rights and patronizing arrogance. I may be missing the author's intent on this one. In order to make this helpful should the author read this review, I think the problem in the relationship between the two main characters is that the balance of power is not anywhere near equitable and that led to him coming across as domineering and misogynistic. It was disturbing to see him give orders in their private relationship and her obey and enjoy it. Additionally, I was offended that he blamed her for almost being raped because she dared to walk to a friend's house for a visit. And I was more upset that she eventually came to agree with him and blame herself for the attack after he berated her publicly and privately for disobeying his orders. It is never the victim's fault when someone else makes the choice to ignore the basic human right to personal safety.

💜 Excellently enjoyable book
I really enjoyed this book! It started off fine, and stayed that way for me. I’ve read others reviews saying that it was slow in the first half and IF it felt that way to me I just sped the book up a little bit. But I only did that one or two times. I thought the story was interesting enough to keep me wanting to find time to listen. There were some things happening that you don’t find out till the end of the book, and are surprising even, but for me I find that to be fun. I only wish that some of the characters that were in the story would have been brought forward to the next in the series, but looking at the descriptions of the next books I don’t think that’s going to be the case.
I thought that the narrator did a great job. I don’t think that there was perfection, but I have yet to find an absolutely flawless narrator, though some do come close. LOL
I used a full credit on this book and feel completely satisfied that my credit was well spent.
