Book 2 - Great story, very humorous at times.

Laird Lachlan MacKay will never stop until he avenges his dead brother.
Amber MacPherson a healer for her clan flees to escape being mistreated by her evil Laird straight into Lachlan’s path.
Amazing storyline with danger and a daring plot to catch the evil laird.
There were many laugh out loud moments in this book along with a few steamy moments as well.
Once again all the characters were well written and I loved immersing myself in this world of highland warriors and the women they love.
Looking forward to the next in the series.
I listened to the audiobook and loved the narration.

Great book

I love these books. The heroine is clever and sassy and the hero is manly and tender hearted. They have suspense, intrigue, and a lot of love. Thank you, Alyson.

💜💜 Great second story!

I am just so glad these fell into my lap in a 2 for 1 sale!! I probably would have never tried them otherwise! This story was as good, to me, as the previous one. I do think it’s important to read the first one first because this one, and probably the rest in the series, only gave a minor snippet about how the boys came to be with Gregor MacLeod. One thing that bugged me was the “bad guys” name. I am one of those people who “sees” words and it was driving me crazy. So, I looked it up. Lol. (Machar Murray in case anyone else needs to know how that looks! Haha!)

The story was great. In historical romances, there is a lot of portrayal of the ugly way things were back then. Rape by husbands, domineering men, abuse, repressed conversation etc. This was fabulous in that it absolutely did not. Well, Machar Murray certainly was trying for it, but it never happened. (Oops was that a spoiler? If so sorry.) The banter between friends, the family members, and everyone really, was fun. I liked the strength of Amber, and the support she received for it. Of course, in that time period I reelly doubt that could have been an accurate experience, but it’s fiction so who cares?

Rosalyn Landor did an exceptionally good job. Scottish was well done, characters (and there were many!) stayed on track throughout the book.

All in all a fantastic read. Well well worth the half credit I paid in the 2 for1 sale and I will probably be ok buying the next ones in the series for a full credit (which I rarely do) provided they follow suit in quality.

Good book.

It’s another good book to read, but I could do without the vulgar words though. Rosalyn Landor is such a good narrator, she definitely gives the book life.

Perfect blend of personalities

Amber is stubborn yet selfless and Lachlan’s brute, commanding presence, yet he can be patient and gentle either way Amber. I found it to be a great balance.

A great new author for me.

Alyson McLayne really is a very talented author who does a great job in telling a good story and in developing interesting characters. Rosalyn Landor is the perfect narrator for AM's books....she does Scottish accents very well. In this particular story there was a perfect blend of heroes and bad guys....and sex. This my second McLayne book....but will not be my last.
