Publisher's Summary

The war on drugs has been lost but for want of the courage to face the fact that the whole world is rapidly becoming one vast criminal network. From pop stars and princes to crack whores and street kids. From the Groucho Club toilets to the poppy fields of Afghanistan, we are all partners in crime. High Society is a story or rather a collection of interconnected stories that takes the reader on a hilarious, heart breaking, and terrifying journey through the kaleidoscope world that the law has created and from which the law offers no protection.

Critic Reviews

"A fix of high comedy from a writer who provokes almost as much as he entertains." (Daily Mail)

Top Class

Once again a smooth and gripping Ben Elton Story.Highly researched and completely believable.
The characters are just Top Drawer.
All brought together by a brilliant Rik Mayall.
Made a long boring drive to Grimsby most enjoyable..

class Act

I wanted to hear this title because the subject appealed to me on a political level. But even though this novel takes a good hard romp through the halls of power (be they in Westminster or a Birmingham brothel) the tragic and compelling human stories were interwoven so skillfully in this narrative that in the end, I cared more about the people than the issues.
Rik Mayall just nails it down to the shag rug. His accents and characterizations are convincing and enthralling. The best read audio book I've ever heard.

Thoroughly enjoyed it- was over too quickly!

great wee bunch of stories that gelled well together.
the amazing Rik remains the best narrator ever there was- although, for being married to a Scottish bird, his attempt at the accent left a lot to be desired! 😂

A laugh a minute from Ben Elton and Rik Mayall

Rik Mayall was a truly excellent choice to read this book and I found myself laughing not just at the great dialogue by Ben Elton but also by Rik Mayall's superb take on it. It's the combination of the writer and the narrator that really makes this wonderfully entertaining and if it doesn't have you laughing in short order I'd be surprised.

only 3 chapters

the story and narration were great, but it's super short, bummed to have spend a credit on such a short book - will be sure to be more dilligent in reading such information for future books
