Publisher's Summary

Returning from a stint as part of a task force on violent crime, Randy Detweiler is eager to reunite with Sarah Tucker in Pine Hills, but she's having second thoughts about their relationship. Can she deal with a cop who gets called away at a moment's notice - especially one who won't talk about his job?

Their reunion is cut short when a body is discovered and rumors fly that it's the work of a serial killer. To make matters worse, the Town Council might disband their police department, and Randy's under added pressure to solve the murder before they take action. Forced to work under the radar, Randy struggles to balance work with a shaky relationship.

Sarah can't cope with apparently meaning less to Randy than his job. Should she force him to choose between his job and the "us" she envisions for the two of them? All bets are off when Sarah herself becomes a suspect in Randy's case. Before long, it's more than their relationship that's in danger.

A sequel to Finding Sarah, this audiobook was previously published by Cerridwen Press, but has been updated for this edition.

Terrific Series, Can't Wait For the Next

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would definitely recommend this book to a friend. Terry Odell has written a terrific sequel to Finding Sarah. She brought back characters and a town facing the same financial pitfalls as the rest of us and placed them in another challenging situation.

What other book might you compare Hidden Fire to and why?

The series that comes to mind is J.D. Robb's In Death series. While this one is not placed in the future, the author has brought back characters and is proceeding to build her series one block at a time.

What about Kelley Hazen and Storyteller Productions ’s performance did you like?

The narrator doesn't distract from the story but tends to enhance it. She does an excellent job.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Mystery in a small town.

Average story saved by the narrator

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes, I would. I don't think this book of the series is as entertaining as the first one, but it is still good company during your commute or if you have a long wait at the doctor's.

If you’ve listened to books by Terry Odell before, how does this one compare?

The character of Sarah is annoying in this book. She is not a character I could relate to at all. I also felt some of the story lines were left unfinished.

Which character – as performed by Kelley Hazen and Storyteller Productions – was your favorite?

Kovac is a fun character to listen to, especially when he interacts with Randy.

Did Hidden Fire inspire you to do anything?

Not really.

Any additional comments?

I enjoy listening to these kind of stories. They may not always be great, but the way this narrator tells the story keeps me wondering what will happen next. The way she handles the dialogue between the characters is great, she makes you feel like you're part of the conversation.

A Great Listen

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the narrator and found it very entertaining. Finally things are picking up for Sarah and her store is doing great and she has a specialty display booked. But her store is broken into and some of her inventory is stolen or destroyed and somehow she becomes a suspect and Randy, an accomplice. A great combination of suspense, action, humour and romance. A perfect listen to relax to after a busy day. Looking forward to starting book three.
