Celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal is a gastronomic alchemist who sees the kitchen as a laboratory where he loves to experiment with new ways to tantalize diners' taste buds. The story of his life is every bit as colorful and attention-grabbing as his famous snail porridge and bacon-and-egg ice cream.

This biography traces his journey from a life-changing childhood holiday in France through to his brief apprenticeship in Raymond Blanc's restaurant, where he stood up to a kitchen bully. It follows him as - constantly pushing the boundaries of his work - he reached the top of his profession and was knighted by the Queen.

Here, for the first time, is the full inspirational story of the enthusiastic, self-taught genius who turned the world of cuisine on its head.

If I want to read reviews, I know where to look. This book reads more like a Madison Ave press release, than a biography.

A love letter comprised of glowing reviews...

I myself being a Chef Love a good Chef autography but this is far from one. This book while speaking about Heston continues to brag and build him up referring to him on more than one occasion as “the best chef in the world”. This book is sad and does not represent Heston well at all. I wish I had believed the reviews I read before buying. Don’t make my mistake. Find something else.

The perhaps most original chef ever, cleverly portrayed in this bio. Heston up to April of 2009 - at the hight of his power. Now Heston has almost retired himself, and moved to the South of France. And his great molecular gastronomy rival shut down legendary ElBulli in the autumn of 2011.

A truly original chef
