Publisher's summary

Book 3 in the Eisenhorn series.

Inquisitor Eisenhorn returns, and this time he’s on the edge of treachery. How far can he go before he crosses the line and becomes what he is sworn to hunt?

Listen to It Because:

Eisenhorn seeks the truth behind a string of disappearances centred around a travelling carnival and a pictographer whose images are more than they seem. Inquisitor Eisenhorn has saved worlds and beaten bad guys galore, in short, he's a hero. But he's also done some dodgy things, and they're coming back to haunt him... His struggle to justify his actions (especially the daemon summoning) make this an incredibly compelling read and rounds off the trilogy perfectly.

The Story:

Hunted by his former allies as a radical and enemy of the Imperium, Inquisitor Gregor Eisenhorn must fight to prove that he remains loyal as he tracks down a dangerous heretic whom the Inquisition believes dead, the dread former Inquisitor Quixos. As he grows more desperate for victory, Eisenhorn uses ever darker means to achieve his goals, but how far can he go using the weapons of the enemy until he becomes that very enemy, and no different to the traitor he hunts?

amazing book and series

Eisenhorn is an amazing series, and this is a solid conclusion. Game of thrones doesn't have anything on the sad character deaths in this series. Poor Gregor.

change your grading system

Your grading system is misleading. Any relavent criticism of a good book is turned into a negative rating pushing books that are worth reading out of market. and a lack of transparency makes it frustrating. forcing this pop up to confront the customer is just insulting to any one who has seen how abusive Amazon's rating system works. Pleas change.

Great conclusion to the series

No spoilers! I just finished the series and feel my last review works for each book:

In the last three months, I devoured the entire Eisenhorn series along with the Ravenor trilogy, and I also read one Bequin novel along the way. Dan Abnett has become one of my favorite and most respected authors, and Toby Longworth's narration feels like the quintessential voice of Eisenhorn and the entire Warhammer 40K universe. The combination of compelling storytelling and captivating performance kept me hooked throughout.

The conclusion of the Eisenhorn trilogy was satisfying and refreshingly devoid of clichés. I expected a stereotypical ending, but Abnett delivered something far more nuanced. The characters' arcs continue to evolve beyond the last page, while still providing closure for the series.

These two series served as my introduction to the Warhammer 40K universe, and I never felt lost. I deliberately avoided spoilers, opting to search for terms via a 40K wiki without delving into character details until after I finished each series.

A great ending to one of the best 40k trilogies

A thorough wrap up to the Eisenhorn trilogy. It went in a few directions I didn’t expect even though it made everyone stay true to character. What’s great about these books are the scale, yes they’re big, but not everything has to be the “final battle of 100,000,000,000” which is great because it shows the battle against chaos is individual driven.

Fitting end/beginning

A great end to Eisenhorns story setting up for the Ravenor trilogy and eventually the Bequin trilogy, which I still hope to see finished.

Best of the Original Trilogy

The stakes were truly high, the impact was heavy, and for those who are hesitant about the 4th novel I would advise they let this be the end to the saga. It serves as a fantastic punctuation to Abnett's work.
