A disappointment....

I usually like everything I read by Nora Roberts, but this book was a bit of a disappointment. The main character(Gwen came off as very immature and churlish, and she seemed incredibly stupid for acting on an assumption that could have been easily clarified. Since she and Luke had this explosive chemistry between them, how hard would it have been for her to just ask if he had been involved with her mother? Since this is the premise of the entire book, I found myself rolling my eyes several times over the sheer lunacy of it all. And the fact that Gwen blamed Luke for everything rather than taking any responsibility for her own actions was just ridiculous.

The narrator did a good job with the southern accents, but that only made Gwen's southern belle character even more annoying. Not Nora's best work.

NR fan

I have enjoyed many, many of NR's books. I didn't enjoy this one as much but it is an okay read. Could have just been timing for me. I will always purchase her books and give'em a try because she writes stories I enjoy.

I usually love Nora Roberts

I have loved every other book I have read by Nora Roberts, this one not so much. The story was no where near completely formed, and the parts that were left something to be desired. Number one on the problem list was if the man I thought my mother was involved with tried to kiss me, or any of the other things Like does, that man would walk away with his privates in a sling.

Plummer is always great but

I really wanted to like the story but if a guy acted in real life the way this guy did… ugh! What a creep. He stalked her, he went in her room without her permission. He touched her and made personal assessments of her within 10 minutes .... I absolutely don't believe any woman in her right mind would have put up with it. Truly base as it assumes women are weak minded.

Her Mother's Keeper indeed

Wonderful tongue in cheek novel. Loved everything about it. Hilarious. Highly recommended for lighthearted reading.

Best narrator

This was a really good book. It was easy to follow for a light read or listen. But what really made this book stand out was the reading by the narrator Who did a remarkable job.

Save your money!!

I simply didn't like the story. Too damn close to a soap opera. The main female character is beyond annoying. I found myself frustrated. I usually love NRs books this one was a serious let down.

Not Nora's best, just ok

Would you try another book from Nora Roberts and/or Therese Plummer?

Yes, I like Nora Robert, this was annoying at times. Too much whining and seemed childish at times, and yes! that accent drove me crazy!!!

Would you be willing to try another book from Nora Roberts? Why or why not?

Yes, I like her as an author.

What aspect of Therese Plummer’s performance would you have changed?

The accent, it drove me crazy. I think Gwen living in NY for 2 years she could have made her accent better. Her mother was fine because she lives in NO but that accent, ugh!!!!

Did Her Mother's Keeper inspire you to do anything?

Wanted to stop listening at one point.

Any additional comments?

I love Nora Roberts' work. I especially loved the Witness, it was strong, well read and narrated. This one at times was childish and annoying. Very predictable and typical story line. I completed the book but there were no surprises! just ok!
