**TRIGGER WARNING**
Thank you for your courage to share your story. Please don’t be embarrassed by it. It’s your story, so own it and give it a wonderful ending in about 60-ish years. In the mean time though, share all the amazing adventures and stories your going to have along the way.
My son-in-law was an alcoholic and suffered from depression, and in one of his Saturday night drinking “episodes” which included fighting with his wife over the same old stuff, he shot himself. He left behind a 4 yr old (who has non-verbal autism) and an 18mo old, and a 25yr old widow. Had he been sober, he would have NEVER pulled that trigger!! But he wasn’t sober, and he pulled the trigger, and now we have to keep living without him and try to help his kids understand why daddy hasn’t come home in 6 months. My 4 yr old grandson watches little clips on his iPad that we saved from old Snapchat videos so he doesn’t forget his voice. He loved his kids and his wife. He did everything for them. But the combination of his depression and excessive alcohol altered his thinking and decision making, and the mere thought of divorce and a life without his children with him everyday, caused him to make a split second decision he couldn’t take back. The arguments, no matter how serious, are so trivial when you look at the big picture. Everything can be managed, arranged, worked on etc, but you can’t undo that final decision of suicide. You love your kids and they love you very much. You and Laura are literally their life!! Their whole entire world!! We aren’t perfect people but to our young children, we are as perfect as perfect can get. Everything and every problem you have is manageable! We love you Stephen. Please keep up this podcast. It will help so many ppl and it will really help you too! Sorry for such a long review
