Universalism/Christian Universalism/Apologetics
What does the Bible say about Hell and Eternity in its original languages? This book focuses on both the Hebrew and Greek texts of the Bible to examine exactly what has been taught from the time of Adam until the time of Jesus regarding Hell and Eternity. Hell and Eternity: It's All Greek to Me is a book that systematically and thoroughly dismantles the ideas traditionally held by the Christian church about the afterlife and punishment. This book offers hope to all, and it does so through scriputre, not philosophy. It asks you to take the Bible at its word to test everything and put the traditional doctrine of hell to the test.

On account of the superficial points of agreement between Islam and Christianity, many don't see how tremendously deep the divides between them really are, and fewer still have considered the evidence for each faith. How is jihad different from the Crusades? Can we know the life of Jesus as well as the life of Muhammad? What reason is there to believe in one faith over the other, and what difference can the Gospel really make?

What if Christ has already returned? The Second Coming of Christ has been "coming soon" ever since 1850, when John Nelson Darby popularized his brand of end times dispensational rapture theology. Many Christians today are unaware that the version of biblical prophecy they've been taught is not what the Church believed for the first 1,800 years. It's time to leave behind the "End Times" and discover an astounding truth - Christ has already returned and our participation is essential to making all things new.

This is the book that pastors, educators, and anyone interested in the Bible have been waiting for, a clear and compelling account of the central challenges we face when attempting to reconstruct the life and message of Jesus.

Grace is amazing. About this all Christians agree. Yet nearly all forms of Christianity put significant limits on grace. In Grace Saves All, David Artman argues that grace saves alone and goes to all. This inclusive approach to Christianity is variously called universal reconciliation, universal salvation, or perhaps most accurately, Christian universalism. He contends that the inclusive/Christian universalist approach is necessary because it offers the only Christian theology that successfully defends the goodness of God.

What used to be an exotic religion of people halfway around the world is now the belief system of people living across the street. Through fair, contextual use of the Qur'an as the primary source text, apologist James R. White presents Islamic beliefs about Christ, salvation, the Trinity, the afterlife, and other important topics. White shows how the sacred text of Islam differs from the teachings of the Bible in order to help Christians engage in open, honest discussions with Muslims.

The study of Bible prophecy can seem complicated or controversial, yet Christians still long to understand what God’s Word reveals about the future. Whenever authors Amir Tsarfati and Barry Stagner teach on the end times, the most popular part of their ministry is the question-and-answer session, revealing the church’s great hunger to know more about the last days. In Bible Prophecy: The Essentials, Amir and Barry pool their knowledge to answer some of their most commonly asked questions.

God's word teaches that healing and health are God's will for every person, every time. However, if you've been a Christian very long, you've probably heard some seemingly "scriptural" objections that complicate the simple truth that God is good, and His will is always healing... such as: Doesn't God allow suffering, trials, tribulations and evil? What about Job? Doesn't God use sickness to teach and mature us? What about Paul's "thorn" in the flesh? What about "God's timing?"

This newest addition to the IX Marks series presents a clear, straightforward statement of the gospel, the third mark of a healthy church. What is the gospel? It seems like a simple question, yet it has been known to incite some heated responses, even in the church. How are we to formulate a clear, biblical understanding of the gospel? Tradition, reason, and experience all leave us ultimately disappointed.

It can no longer be assumed that most people - or even most Christians - have a basic understanding of the Bible. Many don’t know the difference between the Old and New Testament, and even the more well-known biblical figures are often misunderstood. It is getting harder to talk about Jesus accurately and compellingly because listeners have no proper context with which to understand God’s story of redemption. In this basic introduction to faith, D. A. Carson takes seekers, new Christians, and small groups through the big story of scripture. He helps listeners to know what they believe and why they believe it.

Though most Christians refrain from predicting exactly when our world will end, many believe that when Earth's finale does arrive, it will be a catastrophe. Details vary, but the general assumption is the same: Things will get much, much worse before they get better. But is this really what the Bible teaches? Leaving aside the theological terms that often confuse and muddle this question, Douglas Wilson instead explains eschatology as the end of the greatest story in the world.

With a humble respect for God's word, Francis Chan and Preston Sprinkle address the deepest questions you have about eternal destiny. They've asked the same questions. Like you, sometimes they just don't want to believe in hell. But as they write, "We cannot afford to be wrong on this issue". This is not a book about who is saying what. It's a book about what God says. It's not a book about impersonal theological issues. It's a book about people who God loves. It's not a book about arguments, doctrine, or being right. It's a book about the character of God.

In our shrinking, pluralistic world, the belief that Jesus is the only way of salvation is increasingly called arrogant and even hateful. In the face of this criticism, many shrink back from affirming the global necessity of knowing and believing in Jesus. In Jesus: the Only Way to God, John Piper offers a timely plea for the evangelical church to consider what is at stake in surrendering the unique, universal place of Jesus in salvation.

Narrator needs some Pronunciation help!
While the book is excellent--I have the paperback, the kindle book, AND the audiobook!)--and I think the narrator did a fair job, his continuous pronunciation of Hades (HAY-deez) as Hadas' (huh-DASS) was freakin' irritating! (I don't even think it's pronounced that way in Greek!) He speaks perfect American English, yet his pronunciation of that word was as if he had no clue how Americans say it! His pronunciation of Apocrypha was also as if he'd never encountered that word before (luckily IT was only in one chapter!). While I still enjoyed the hearing of the book being read, those few "pronunciation quirks" gave it just a slight irritation factor.
The book is incredibly valuable to me in understanding the message of Universal Salvation. It still trips me out how many of my fellow Christians turn "brain-dead" when I tell them how important it is to do an actual study of the key Hebrew and Greek words. It's like they're determined to dig in their heels and stick their heads in the sand, in order to hold on to the false teaching of Eternal Conscious Torment!
