Publisher's summary

From Wall Street Journal and USA Today best-selling Author Lauren Landish.

Roxy Price

After ten months without a date, I'm eager to go to the hottest new ticket in town, Club Jasmine.

I deserve a night of fun. I've worked hard, and I finally got a promotion. But for one night, I'm going to let loose.

That's when I see him.

The drop-dead gorgeous Jake Stone.

With his godlike physique, pure blue eyes, and chiseled jawline, he might be the hottest guy I've ever laid eyes on. A total heartstopper.

The man's probably a player. Then again, maybe that's what I need - a man who knows what he's got, knows how to use it, and knows how to make me scream to the heavens.

Screw it. You only live once.

But when I go in Monday morning to meet my new boss, I'm greeted by that same irresistible smile.

And Mr. Stone is making it perfectly clear that strictly professional is not in his vocabulary.

Heartstopper is a full-length romance with an HEA, no cheating, and no cliff-hanger!

Let down

Overall I feel this was a good story. However, I found myself skipping approximately 10 chapters because I could not listen to the male narrator one more second.
Jake was supposed to a “Heartstopper” but narrators voice to killed that whole image. Every voice he attempted annoyed more and more so I had to jump to chapter 29 and 30. Glad it ended with a HEA.

Please do NOT use this male narrator again!!!!!

Uncomfortable narration

I loved the story, but felt uncomfortable with the male narrator. I wanted to cringe whenever love scenes were involved. He was fine otherwise but I was tempted to turn off the book.

Heartstopper

This is one of those listens where the narrators really influenced my enjoyment of the story - and not really in a good way. I felt like there was no inflection in the female narrator's voice and / or dialogue. Everything sounded pretty monotone with very little distinction between female characters. Plus, there were many instances where I felt like she was. Talking. Like. Every. Word. Had. A. Period. After. It. I could not get on board with this one.

The male narrator did a better job with differentiating between the male characters and even the female characters when it was his turn as the lead. But there were a few times, particularly during the intimate scenes, where I felt like he made every word over the top with crescendos and booming voices. It was almost too much at times.

I think this book is a great example of how certain things (time, place, narrator, etc) can influence whether or not you like a book (movie, television show, etc). I think the narrators made it hard for me to immerse myself within the story of Roxy who meets Jake at a club and discovers the next day that he's her new boss. While trying to be professional in the work place, Roxy and Jake cannot deny the chemistry between them. Jake's club (yep he's co-owner of the club where they met) becomes the place where they don't have to hide. It also becomes the place where Roxy gets to live out her dream of being a singer, a dream she had long given up on after trying for years and just not being able to break out. although I honestly felt like Roxy as a singer was a bit pretentious. Jake surprises Roxy with an impromptu karaoke night at the club and gets Roxy to go onstage and sing. After one song she then proceeds to take up another hour singing, just kinda assumes that it's cool, no one else wanted to karaoke, right? There were other instances like this that kinda made me cringe, such as the descriptions of Roxy dancing on stage. I hate saying this, but every time she mentioned shaking her a** basically turning every performance into an almost striptease, I could very well understand why she had yet to make it as a singer.

While this particular story didn't work for me so well, I've listened to other books by Lauren Landish and I've really enjoyed them. I will definitely still listen to / read more from Lauren Landish.

good story, annoying narrator

The book itself is great, it's a good story line. But the male narrator is just annoying. It makes it hard to enjoy the book, especially the steamier parts. Half the time he sounds like he's growling.

It was good, but not attention holding.Needed more major happenings. Not suspenseful enough I guess.

Performance by narrators

I loved the book and story line- but the narrators were horrible - Shannon sounded like Siri and Jae sounded like a pervert almost yelling at certain points in the book. Not my favorite

Ok book

I didn’t care for the male narrator. It was way over the top. The way the main characters “broke up” was dumb. Instead of being there for her boyfriend in a time of need, she made it about her and lashed out at her.
