Publisher's summary

When love comes knocking, a door gets slammed in its face.

Romance author Dana Lawson writes happy-ever-after endings for her characters, but when it comes to her own love story, she has writer’s block. Determined to get a break from life and heal her broken heart, she escapes to Emerald Bay. Her evening out at the local bar where she meets a gorgeous redhead ignites a fire she’s afraid to feed and desperate to fuel. Will she write her love story or tear up the chapters and throw them in the fire?

Set along the beautiful South Shore of Nova Scotia, the story uses local flavors and rural settings to rev up the love scenes. The novel weaves together the lives of Dana Lawson, Mac Mackenzie, and Ellie, Mac’s niece.

Hearts of Emerald Bay is a fast-paced love story that will keep you listening late into the night. It will appeal to adult listeners who love listening to romance novels with juicy scenes not suitable for younger audiences.

Hearts of Emerald Bay is D. G. Barnes’ first novel. He delves into the love life of two women who desperately need to find each other. If you like spicy stories where the girl fights to get the girl, you’ll love Hearts of Emerald Bay.

Sweet love story

Listening to the love story between Mac and Dana, written by D. G. Barnes, was quite enjoyable, through and through. I loved that it was also a story of Mac’s adoptive parenting of her niece, Ellie, while battling through homophobia. Melissa Sternenberg brought distinctive voices to each character, and entertained with expressive vocalization.

Loved it!!

Great story and excellent narration. Who doesn’t love a book involving a hot bartender! Lol. And I think I squealed out loud at the mention of “midnight chocolate”, a shout out to Melissa Brayden’s Soho Loft series!

Well done DG Barnes & Melissa Sterneberg

This was a great listen. It had a great cast of characters, a little drama, but not over the top . A little homophobia, never hurts, some snobbism is good too for the mix.

Sweet listening

I really enjoyed this novel, it was fun and light hearted, occasionally getting heavier. It ended on a very nice sweet spot. The narration was excellent.

Much enjoyed!

Much enjoyed this read. Story was put together well and flowed well. I enjoyed the characters, especially Mac... up until the end where she acted like a teenager... just saying.
Narrator did a good job. Enjoyed the listen.

Lovely Story!

I enjoyed Hearts of Emerald Bay and can’t wait for more from D.G. Barnes. I loved the reference about “Midnight Chocolate” I love the Soho Loft Romance series. If you like Lesfic and some steamy romance this is for you. Melissa Sternenberg does an amazing job narrating, giving the characters more depth, and she never disappoints.

Great story! 5⭐️

This audiobook had all the elements that I enjoy... A great story with romance, angst and of course a HEA...I would recommend it to anyone.
Also, the narrator “ Melissa Sternenberg” does a fine job with the different characters.

I know your Face, but I forgot your name!

This is my first time reading this author. I really enjoyed this book. Typical romance adventure, but love getting to the Happy Ever After. The break-up, make-up and makeup,,,sex. Off to my next adventure.

Engaging story

The story is good, well-paced and the characters are lovely. Has a bit of drama, angst, romance, sex and humour. I really enjoyed it, liked the chemistry between Mac and Dana. Needs a few changes to make it better, but in general is a good book. About the narration though, it felt too robotic most of the time for my liking and reason why I'm only giving three stars. Although I liked how Melissa Sternenberg acts out the dialogues, mostly the main characters. Mac's voice is delicious and I think suits her well.

ARC provided by the author for an honest review in return.
