Windmill Point, Michigan, 1865.

Can she forgive the hurting man who costs her the role she loves?

After her father's death, Caroline Taylor has grown confident running the Windmill Point lighthouse. But in 1865 Michigan, women aren't supposed to have such roles, so it's only a matter of time before the lighthouse inspector appoints a new keeper - even though Caroline has nowhere else to go and no other job available to her.

Ryan Chambers is a Civil War veteran still haunted by the horrors of battle. He's secured the position of lighthouse keeper mostly for the isolation - the chance to hide from his past is appealing. He's not expecting the current keeper to be a feisty and beautiful woman who's angry with him for taking her job and for his inability to properly run the light. When his failings endanger others, he and Caroline realize he's in no shape to run the lighthouse, but he's unwilling to let anyone close enough to help. Caroline feels drawn to this wounded soul, but with both of them relying on that single position, can they look past their loss to a future filled with hope...and possibly love?

That was really CUTE.. I really needed this kind of book to hit the spot for me
So in this book we follow Ryan, Emma's brother.. and right now he just returned from war and he accepted a new job in a new lighthouse .. and it happens that the residents of the house are Caroline and her family .. and as time passes Ryan and Caroline form a bond which turns into love
it was a really feel good book and I want to continue on with Tessa's story since she is the bearer of the wooden cross
let's see
I really wish if they picked a different narrator because she is really robotic and barely performing

Feel Good Book

The Narrator did a great job and this is one of Jody Hedlund’s best . Caroline and Ryan’s story offers a good read.

Well Written. Great Read

I loved the story and the historical facts woven in. The narrator is a bit too sweet, but she does well with voice distinguishing. Thanks for the Christian world view!

Although I thoroughly enjoyed this second installment of this amazing series, I must admit that it took me a little longer to really get into this book. That being said, in no way was this book not as good as the first. Becky Doughty did a fantastic job narrating and making this story come alive!

Another great book :)

this book is number 2 in series of books on women lighthouse keepers. The author uses histories of real lighthouses and keepers to base her stories on. the stories are full of adventures , romance, and relationships. including relationships with God. I recommend these book and think women will find them especially interesting in a time of oppression for women .
