Thinking outside the box means applying existing knowledge in new, unexpected ways to come up with new ideas and solutions. This is an essential skill in today’s fast-changing world. But saying “think outside the box” isn’t enough - you have to be aware of the box before you can think outside it. The scientific name for this imaginary box is “mental model”. Mental models are useful because they help you learn. They help you make sense of new information and attach it to your existing knowledge. But, at the same time, they can limit your thinking.

The best leaders aren't people. Instead, innovative and emerging research shows that a compelling and other-centered authentic purpose - "The Invisible Leader" - may be the most powerful influencer of our behaviors, attitudes, and motivation in organizations, work, school, and life. Yet despite the increasing evidence of purpose's power, many of the organizations, systems, and institutions which dominate human life aren't built to elicit and leverage the fundamental human search for purpose and meaning.

In nearly every industry, smart machines are replacing human labor. It's not just factory jobs - automated technologies are handling people's investments, diagnosing illnesses, and analyzing written documents. If we humans are going to endure, Edward Hess and Katherine Ludwig say we're going to need a dose of humility. We need to be humble enough to let go of the idea that "smart" means knowing the most, using that information quickest, and making the fewest mistakes. Smart machines will always be better than we are at those things.

Publisher's Summary
Heartificial Empathy, shortlisted for the Business Book Awards 2019, explores the power of empathy, one of the most untapped levers of productivity in business. In the new tech-infused era, where companies continue to scramble with digital transformation, trying to be more customercentric and spurring innovation and growth, empathy is a killer app. Yet, it can't be taught. Empathy can only be learned. The same is true of both human beings and machines. Heartificial Empathy looks at some of the pioneering work being done on making bots and machines more sentient and empathic.
It also grapples with the major business and ethical challenges associated with making organisations and machines more empathic. Heartificial Empathy attempts to lay out the business case and a path for putting more heart and empathy into business and machines for a healthier and more profitable future.
In this audio version of the book, I’ve narrated it myself with the help of Amanda Seagers, and I’ve added some content exclusive to the audio format for what I hope you’ll find is a more interesting and engaging listen.

Totally intriguing !!
Minter does a really top job discussing empathy between humans and then takes a giant stride describing how empathy will be a feature of robots and AI in the future. And get this, they will probably be better at it than humans simply because of unlimited memory. So if you are in business this is a must read (listen)
