Publisher's Summary

All his life, Rand T’Ash has looked forward to meeting his HeartMate, with whom he could begin a family. Once a street tough, now a respected nobleman and artisan, he has crafted the perfect HeartGift, which, in the custom of the psychically gifted population of the planet Celta, is the way a man finds—and attracts—his wife…

Danith Mallow is irresistibly drawn to the magnificent necklace on display in T’Ash’s shop, but she is wary of its creator, despite an overpowering attraction. In a world where everyone is defined by their psychic ability, Danith has little, placing her at the opposite end of the social spectrum from T’Ash. But T’Ash refuses to accept her rejection and sees it as a challenge instead. They are HeartMates, but can T’Ash persuade his beloved to accept her destiny by his side?

Finally!

What did you love best about HeartMate?

It sets the groundwork for the rest of this truly innovative series.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Holly Holm. Can't wait for his book to be released!

Have you listened to any of Noah Michael Levine’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've never heard him before, but he captures T'Ash's rough background and strong emotional walls perfectly.

Any additional comments?

Each Celta book gets better and better. T'Ash is not my favorite hero, but he is enough of an outsider to allow the reader to see all levels of Celtan society.

Fun new world to dive into.

This was an enjoyable romance. I really like the world that Robin Owens has created, it reminds me a tiny bit of Jayne Castle's world of Harmony. It was fun watching T'ash screw up a courtship, he was quite clueless. All of T'ash's gifts back fired, his intentions were totally miss read. I love the cats in this story, Pansy/Princess cracked me up with all of her jewelry. There was two things that could have used some work though. For instance it was incredible annoying that neither one of the main characters listened to what they really want and the narration was a bit choppy, there was a bit of a disjointed quality to it. Otherwise the narrator was pretty good. I will be trying the next book in the series soon.

Wonderfully refreshing!

Feed up of the usual themes and looking for a new twist in the romance genre then this may be for you.
I was enthralled by the whole new world the author created, its customs and culture ... the characters also sucked you in ... you felt T'Ash frustration and Danith's initial fear to become involved. Bits of humour were sliced in nicely among the lines and the narration was great.

Well worth a credit... looking forward to more stories within this new world!

Fabulous Story - Great Series!

If you could sum up HeartMate in three words, what would they be?

Original, dynamic, fascinating

What did you like best about this story?

Heart Mate is the first of the series and introduces Intriguing world building without an overabundance of backstory. Owens delivers very consistent writing with strong characters and a delightfully twisty plot. Lots to love here.

What does Noah Michael Levine bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Inconsistent pronunciations, many that make no sense. I've read these numerous times, have talked with the author, and know the correct pronunciations of character names. Levine kept changing how he said T'Ash - which should sound like the Ash tree, not Tosh.
Small detail? Not if it pulls the reader/listener out of the story! I was more than a little irritated, especially when the character Tinne Holly started out rhyming with Wine and anded up rhyming with spin. Tin Holly? NO! Can't buy any more if this keeps up.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When the main character, T'Ash, finally lets go of his secrets and shares them with Danith.

Any additional comments?

Please, find a way for the narrators to talk to the authors so that names are done right! This is one of my biggest peeves about audio books, especially when the narrator is inconsistent. I already know I can't listen to the second in the series because of the way Levine says the main character's name. Ruiz Elder? How in the world does he get Rue-ish out of that?

Narriator makes story hard to listen to

What would have made HeartMate better?

Someone else reading the story. Not so stunted in their speech.

What did you like best about this story?

Good idea on the story.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Noah Michael Levine?

Luke Danials

Yeah! It's finally on audio!

This is the opening book to one of my favorite romance series of all time. I've been urging Audible to get this in it's library and they did it! In this book, Owens first introduces us to the wonderful world of Celta. She is masterful in creating a society with its own religion, method of time keeping and such. Yet you easily follow her as she immerses you in the story of Danith and T'Ash. It is romance of the first order set in a fantasy location. The narrator wasn't my absolute favorite but does do a fine job of helping you keep all the characters straight. Well worth a credit!

ROBIN D. OWENS ROCKS

I have been "carried" away by Celta. I read most of the series years ago, and am now listening . . . it's a guilty pleasure to be read to! ;->

Great book

I've read these book countless times. Noah Michael has a great range of voice styles that give the characters personality. The only thing I didn't care for was his pronunciation of the names .. Such as T'Ash being pronounced as Tash, etc.. Otherwise awesome...
