Love this series! Have listened multiple times.

Because of this series, Gena Showalter is a must read for me. Damaged alpha males, romantic story lines, humor and lots of action. I am a happy listener.

Oh Gena You Are My Hero

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Hell yes!

Any additional comments?

Ok so I haven't been super impressed with Showalter's shorts but this one rocked. Not only is B my new favorite girl but there was loin clothes, oil, and hot guys wresteling! Why hasn't that been in more books? There is a God and he is a good one. Read this and read it now.

What did you like best about Heart of Darkness? What did you like least?

Gena Showalter made this book, the other two stories were just ok. If you have followed the Lords of the Underworld series you'll enjoy the story by Showalter

mixed feelings

This book is defiantaly a filler for space and time, meaning that the stories are interesting enough but not spell binding. The first story helps explain and introduce a new charter for the under world lords series which does help in the next book, but other then that it's very redundant and kind of annoying.
the three shorts are not terrible but not great either. I honestly wish I wouldn't have spent the credit, but it did help explain a charter in the next book so I guess it was worth it. If you have them to burn I would get this one just for the 1st story, but other than that dont worry yourself over it. you will be more confused in the end.

Angel vs. Harpy = Fun

5 stars - The Darkest Angel by Gena Showalter is fun and right up there with the rest of the series, so for all those who enjoy the series it is a great addition. Max Bellmore was good, but he did seem to have a little more whine in his female's voice this time. But with Bianka's antics I hardly notice, since I was having a good time with the story. 4 hrs 13 mins.

3 stars - Love Me to Death by Maggie Shayne was okay for a short story. I have read a few of Maggie Shayne books and to me the stories are mostly average reading. Ashford MacNab had a slow voice and it made my mind wonder sometimes, I was not overly impressed with her reading. 2 hrs 56 mins

2 stars - Lady of the Nile by Susan Krinard this book was a mess. It had a confusing storyline, I felt like the characters should be in a mental asylum, even though I know this is a paranormal story based in regency times. It was such a short story, I finished it but I was glad when it was over. 2 hrs 41 mins

Opposites attract and the heat sizzles!

They say opposites attract. That has never been more true than Lysander and his obsession with Bianka. He is one of the 7. An Angel warrior. He is a rule follower, he has never been kissed and he just cannot fathom Bianka and all she does. Everything about her intrigues him. Bianka is a harpy who has to steal to eat, breaks her own bones for fun and uses sex as a weapon, among everything else available. She is his complete opposite in every single way and yet he still cannot get her out of his head. Do onto others takes on a new meaning when Lysander is stupid enough to kidnap her and take her to his cloud. Now she is a bit obsessed with taking this Angel in to temptation. Heads will roll!

Good 3 story book

I love Gena Showalter, and Lysander and Bianka's story was great. Lysander is totally hot and Bianka is naughty. I could not stop listening. Maggie Shayne's story was good as well, and this is the first book of hers that I have read. Susan Krinard's story was my least favorite.

Can only recommend Gena's story

This book contains 3 short stories. The first is written by Gena Showalter and is part of her Lords of the Underworld series. It's an off-shoot, really because neither of the main characters one of the Lords. This story involved one of the Harpy sisters and an angel. It also provides information on the female angel that will be featured in another Lords story later in the series.

Unfortunately the other two stories were not very good at all. I'm not familiar with either Author, and I'm not sure if these were part of a series. Neither of them made me eager to seek out any additional stories along the same lines, nor to check into books by the same author.

Stupid, stupid, stupid!

I didn't actually read this book, just the .5 prequel and about 1/3 of the first book. But, when Audible was kind enough to refund the books I had bought in the series, they accidentally left this one in my library. I was glad because that gave me a chance to warn buyers, who love listening to urban fantasy like Kate Daniels, The Weather Warden, Kim Harrison, Rachel Morgan, Anita Blake (w/Kimberly Alexis) etc... books that are well written, and excellently narrated, to BEWARE, these books are not of the same caliber.

After reading the .5 prequel, it was so bad, I just had to log in to Audible to reread the reviews again, to make sure I didn't make a mistake ordering this series. I do a lot of research before buying audio books, because they ain't cheap, especially when you by the whole series, and yes, lots of people said they were great books. So, I thought I would give the first book a chance, try to withhold my judgement. But nope, it sucked just as bad as the prequel. The narration was awful, Max Bellmore has a nice voice, but his narration was boring, boring, boring. All the male characters sounded the same, all the women sounded pathetic, he does not do women voices well at all. The more I read, the more I felt like I was banging my head against the wall. The story was lame and the dialog was pure drivel. If you still want to give these books a try, just buy them one at a time so you don't waste your credits. What would make these books fun is if we could hear Mike and the robots, from Mystery Science Theatre, listening to the books and critiquing them like they did for all those bad B movies from the 50s and 60s. Then the stupid will become funny, because they are just that bad.
