Publisher's Summary

Most of us have heard of gluten - a protein found in wheat that causes widespread inflammation in the body. Americans spend billions of dollars on gluten-free diets in an effort to protect their health. But what if we've been missing the root of the problem? In The Plant Paradox, renowned cardiologist Dr. Steven Gundry reveals that gluten is just one variety of a common and highly toxic plant-based protein called lectin. Lectins are found not only in grains like wheat but also in the "gluten-free" foods most of us commonly regard as healthy, including many fruits, vegetables, nuts, beans, and conventional dairy products. Once ingested, these proteins incite a kind of chemical warfare in our bodies, causing inflammatory reactions that can lead to weight gain and serious health conditions.

At his waitlist-only clinics in California, Dr. Gundry has successfully treated tens of thousands of patients suffering from autoimmune disorders, diabetes, leaky gut syndrome, heart disease, and neurodegenerative diseases with a protocol that detoxes the cells, repairs the gut, and nourishes the body. Now, in The Plant Paradox, he shares this clinically proven program with listeners around the world.

What the Critics Say

"Gundry's logical and extensive investigation into lectins provides readers with more than enough evidence to take this information to heart and try his method." (Shelf Awareness)

I think this book was read by a robot. It's as though you're in kindergarten.
    Very off-putting.
I had to stop listening and I'm sending it back.

    "Voice"

I had to google the narrator to see if this person exists or if it is a computer program. Whatever speed I put the narration on, it still sounds like a computer generated voice. I am having a hard time listening to the content for the computer sounding voice.

    "sounds like a machine "

The information is thought-provoking and interesting; I'll probably re-listen to it but the narrator sounds mechanical, with unnatural pauses and inflection. It sounds like it's being read by a text-to-speach program and distracts/detracts from the content.

"A Cure For What Ails You!"

Some solid science behind the Plant Paradox. It makes sense and the results are much faster than anyone could imagine. I've known for quite a while that our micro biome was important and after using a probiotic pill for some time I had noticed some positive changes. Little did I know the same could be done just by food choices and preparation. Way too much information to share but if you take any Pharma for almost any reason you need to listen to or read this book. A PDF is supplied with the Audiobook version so you can see what is on the list of eat and don't eat foods.

    "Valuable nutritional advice"

This doctor has helped thousands of patients to get well through avoiding certain foods. He gives some convincing examples. He explains in detail what these foods to to us when we eat them. I learned a lot. The bonus pdf is the list of yes and no foods and also recipes 87 pages.
I am impressed with his credentials as a heart surgeon at Loma Linda.

    "Great Info, Terrible Narrator"

Great book with interesting information, but narrator is so bad I almost didn't make it. Slow, choppy, disjointed, no flow to the point where it is hard to follow the story.

"Authoritative world renowned expert delivers the missing links!"

I am 61 years old and have been researching and implementing my best understanding of state of the art nutrition practiced for the last four years with excellent results. The biochemical, evolutionary and clinical detail in this book tie together so many apparent contradictions and loose ends in my understanding and practices. Seek and yea shall find. I am now purchasing the printed version for deeper study.
