Publisher's summary

How often have you tried to lose weight or start eating healthier simply to get frustrated and revert back to your old bad habits? Is this your first time to try, and friends and family are telling you how difficult it is? What if I told you there are things that can make it easier than you think?

Learn how to get permanent results while eating what's good for you and feeling more satisfied without totally giving up the foods you love.

In this book you'll learn:

  • How to overcome (or completely remove!) the most common obstacles that can make or break your diet (like being hungry while you're on a diet)
  • What daily habits contribute to setbacks and how to replace them with better alternatives to design a healthy lifestyle (just one bad habit can add more than 500 calories a day to your diet)
  • How to deal with cravings and temptations (including a morbid but extremely effective mind trick)
  • How to like healthy foods as much as, if not more than, unhealthy foods (it's all about making small changes)
  • How to increase satiety to stick to your diet (the right foods can be up to seven times more satiating)
  • And how eating healthy can be actually cheaper than eating off a fast food dollar menu (it can be a money-saving technique, too)

In this book you won't find the gimmicky "well, duh" tricks so many dieting fads say are the secret to weight-loss. In fact they aren't tricks at all. The tips in this book are scientifically proven (and supported) strategies and tools to lessen the burden on willpower and help you finally reach your weight loss goals.

You want to change your life for the better. Together we can help you shed those extra pounds - and keep them off - while shifting your view away from short-term frustrations to long-term results and lifelong health.

Great motivation

I really loved how the author went into detail about BMI and different diet structures, the research and statistics available for dieting. Basic explanation of how to be self-disciplined. Permanent attitude and discipline changes for permanent weight loss success !! including much healthier life.

Good information

I really liked it. I have been dieting for 20 years, going from heavy to lighter to heavier over and over again but even trying different diets over the years, I learned with this audio new tricks and understand more the mental part, the big challenge is not the body is in our head.I had trouble starting eating healthy again (emotional eating) and now that I have been listening to the audiobook I have been doing better choices and setting real term expectations. I highly recommended it.

How to get thin slowly

I enjoyed this book (along with pretty much all the other books that Martin Meadows has put out). If you get them during launch week, they are only $0.99. So when the author offered a free copy of the audiobook in exchange for a review, I took him up on it. Having already read the book, I did enjoy the audiobook. Unlike some of Martin's other books, this one is not heavily foot/end noted, so it translates well to audio. I like how he tells you the truth about dieting. His first tip is to get your mindset straight so that you can make lasting changes. Losing weight is hard & if you try to do a quick weight loss routine, your chances of long-term success plummet. The rest of the book is similarly relevant and offers tried and true methods to lose weight, This is definitely not a 'get thin quick' type of book.

Way too monotoned for the material

So I finally decided to really listen to this book after having it sit in my library for so long and say it’s somewhat disappointing. The narration is as monotoned as you can get, but when your reading this type of material, that will lose the reader- I find myself continually having to go back and reread chapters. I also find his writing to be somewhat condescending- he likes to convey information as if you’re an idiot for not doing what I tell you or I’m smarter than you so listen. Anyways, it’s too bad because behind the condescension is some really good material.

self disciplined dieter

Good ideas and advice from author. The performer was a bit choppy when speaking and it was difficult to keep my attention on listening to the audio book.

It puts fat loss in perspective for me.

I'm the type of person that in order for a diet to work I got to all-or-nothing. I didn't really believe that moderate approaches works for me. This audio had introduce me to new perspectives that I haven't considered before. Usually the gurus says that fat loss is easy. Just exercise more and eight less right? What they don't usually cover is the psychological perspective needed to make diets work and to make them more sustainable. This audio also helped me remove limiting and incorrect beliefs about dieting.

Great book

I loved this book. It doesn't tell me to eat this or that, but instead it gives me real life examples of what to do, that I can apply. We have to look deep inside to discover why we eat so much and how to help ourself to stop this vicious cycle. This book gives me answers to all of my questions and teaches me how to do this once and for all.

Clear, direct, informative, insightful

I liked the book a lot. The only reason I give it 4 of 5 stars is bc I had the book it was a spin off from which means a lot of what he said here he already mentioned in that book (Daily Self Discipline). And the fact that he scared me bc the book started off with talking a lot about dieting for weight loss. And I have zero desire to lose weight. So I thought the book was only for weight loss. But he pleasantly fooled me bc the book is way more than just about that. I really liked the parts about substituting really tasty foods that may be no good for you with foods that are good for you but may taste bland. The thing to do is add seasonings and it may taste good enough. So good that it may be something you look forward to eating in the near future. There are a lot of tricks and advice in here to make changing your diet permanent bc he addresses the psychological aspects to it too. There's a heck of a lot more I could say but I'm getting too long winded now. Let me just say that you won't regret buying this short book. I wrote this review on the hopes of getting another of his books for free. And if I didn't like this book, I probably wouldn't be trying to get another one. Right?
