Seamands’ Practical Aphorisms⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’d read “Healing for Damaged Emotions” after reading “Putting Away Childish Things,” in 2000-2003. Whenever I notice my relationships getting strained or myself getting angry at technology I know I need some Biblical Counseling. This time when I read Seamands it is both after his “moral lapse” and his passing. His moral laughs did not at all slow down my second digestion of this book – – would I not read the life of David or psalms because I know he had his mistake? Would I not read proverbs, knowing that people can drift from genuine principles and legitimate work. This time when I read it, I did notice that There were numerous instances where he seemed to counsel members of the opposite sex and I just think it’s bad business to try to do that. It does not take away from the counseling but the application of it to another woman – – that’s a very great area and most ministries I know of Suggest avoiding that situation. However, the main things I get from the book are that we are like onions — we need to peel the layers back and continuously work on our heart, even as Luther said in his first thesis he nailed on the door of Wittenburg, when John the Baptist said, repent, he meant that the entirety of one’s life as a lifestyle repentance. Coming from a very diverse background of not only Methodist influence, but Baptist, charismatic Pentecostal and Presbyterian – – I usually listen to stuff like Paul David trip – – it’s refreshing to hear references to the contemporary of Wesley and Wesley‘s quotes and Wesley Charles Wesley‘s songs and The benefits of the whole body of Christ and all its reformers. And when I either go to heaven or at the Resurrection, if I have a chance to talk to him will be very interested in hearing what he would right now in retrospect, as I believe it would be invaluable material in helping our wounded heroes not be put out of joint, but rather be healed.

The first chapter or two didn’t promos much to me, but later chapters all the way to the end are fantastic.
