Pulled by the will of gods and the call of her best friend, Mariah knows it’s time to return. The children she left behind, the children she didn’t save, are waiting, still imprisoned in camps, still being molded into tools to deliver the world into the hands of a power-hungry king. Mariah will need help to destroy the slave camps and deliver the children to safety. But will questions about her past derail Mariah’s quest and have her fleeing for her life before she can even begin? An epic, shapeshifting fantasy adventure about the friends we choose and the choices we make.

An epic novel exposing the ugliness of war and the beauty of hope. The city of Kiev was bombed in Hitler's blitzkrieg across the Soviet Union, but the constant siege was only the beginning for her citizens. In this sweeping historical saga, Kelli Stuart takes the listener on a captivating journey into the little-known history of Ukraine's tragedies through the eyes of four compelling characters who experience the same story from different perspectives.

Intriguing prequal to Raven Thrall
Healer’s sacrifice is a prequel to Raven Thrall. The story takes place at the beginning of the war when the King’s army takes children with shapeshifting gifts to be trained for his benefit. The story tells of the night that Shira’s mother had to make a difficult choice to save her baby from the clutches of the King. Although it is not a prequel in the true sense, it does give more information about Shira and other characters in Raven Thrall.

Interesting prequel
Definitely a short set up couple chapters. Interesting premise of a magical world. The narration could have been a bit better in terms of differences between characters. Overall a decent listening experience, we’ll see how the next book goes.
Parents: nothing super off putting or mature content. If it were a movie it’s probably be rated G.

A Mother's Dilemma
This story is about a mother who has a baby that is a shifter. Being born a shifter immediately results in the child being confiscated by the king and drafted into his army as a virtual slave. Keeping her child who keeps changing into a bear cub at the most inopportune moments becomes increasingly impossible and the mother is left with difficult and complicated decisions.
The author really does a very nice job of portraying the whole dilemma with realistic, well rounded characters, a good use of English and a sense of empathy for her characters. The pacing of the story is good and never drags at any point.
Sound quality is clear and the narrator does an adequate job.
This is a stand alone work, although it does reference other books in the series. No prior knowledge of the series is required.

A prelude to the world of Raven Thrall
The most excellent book Raven Thrall small weakness is some of the beginnings. This short story brings the past into the present of Raven's Thrall and gives context to one of the very important co-protagonist of the story. At the same time, it gives texture and background so one understands the setting of the these stories world as a whole. As in Raven Thrall Lynn Norris' narration is outstanding and gives even more life to a very enjoyable listen.
