Hawk's Call - Bad Boy Series: Book One

Robyn felt like she'd lost her little sister Crystal when she ran off and married Guts. She was only 18-years-old and she'd not heard from her in over a month.

But one night, she got a phone call from Crystal asking for help. Unfortunately, the call was cut off when Guts caught her on the phone. Robyn was frantic. She was her only family and she was determined to find her.

Robyn takes what little money she has and heads to Nashville. She checks into a shabby rundown motel. It's all she can afford. She grabs a paper and looks for jobs but doesn't see anything that suits her. The manager of the motel gives her a lead on a job at a biker bar nearby.

Hawk's House is known for its biker customers and live music. It's a rough and tumble kind of place but Crystal is desperate. So, she checks it out.

How bad could it be?

Hawk's Call is book one in the steamy Bad Boy Romance series.

Series can be listened to in any order. HEA guaranteed, and no cliffhanger.

Fun, Quick Listen!

Bad boy romances are fun! And Simone Carter always gives a quick and entertaining story. Robyn leaves town to try and find her sister Crystal. When she reaches Nashville, she looks for a job to help pay her way while looking and ends up at a bar owned by Hawk. Instant chemistry between these two. Simone always adds a little suspense to her romance giving some body to the story. I do enjoy that Robyn is an independent woman, able to support and defend herself. Definitely some good listening with Liisa Blackwell narrating this enjoyable quick novel.

Good start to the series...

This is a good book that pulled me in from the start. There's always something going on to keep you listening for what will happen next. Although everything in this story wrapped up nicely in the end, there's still enough of a cliffhanger to keep you guessing and anxious for the next book.
The narrator did a great job. All the characters had distinct voices which makes for an easy, enjoyable listen!

Bad boys- swoon

Simone Carter gives us a great story here in this short time. With Robin’s sister missing, she goes looking for her. Ends up working as a bartender in the town she looking for Crystal in. And Hawk is the bar’s owner. Super hotness. Sweet words. Great story. I think it’s a lot like instalove but there’s no instalust I think. There isn’t that whole “let’s get to the nearest flat surface!” Here. It’s real. It’s “sweet” and carter manages to show Robin’s insecurity about a relationship with Hawk well as well as knowing Crystal isn’t far from her mind without lingering on it too much.
Lissa Blackwell is new to me but I have to say she’s quickly becoming a favorite.

No way

Save your time. This book just didn’t do it for me at all. I love a insta love but the authors description of body parts and sex screen were horrible. Some scenes sounded clinical while others sounded like she was intentionally trying to make fun of the act. Totally ruined the scenes and made it very hard to get into the story.

The narrator did a good job but had bad material to work with, she did the nbest that could be done.

Fresh Biker Romance

Robyn raised her little sister Crystal after their mother died, but when Crystal turned 18 she married a biker and disappeared. When Robyn gets an urgent phone call from her sister in the middle of the night, she knows something is wrong. She tracks the call to a biker bar in Nashville, and sets off to search for Crystal.

Robyn takes a job at a local biker bar owned by Hawk. He's a hulk of a man, fierce and protective. Hawk is instantly attracted to Robyn, but she's conflicted by her attraction to him and her fears over his dominant physical presence. Add in her missing sister and Robyn has a lot to deal with!

This was a steamy read that didn't end on a cliffhanger, it was a quick read you'll want to finish in one sitting. I liked that Robyn was independent, even if it did tend to get her into trouble. Hawk was likable, the story was told from Robyn's point of view but he was still fleshed out well. I thought the play on their names was cool.

The narration was well done, it immersed me in the story and Lissa Blackwell's voice fit Robyn well. Her character voices were distinct. Trigger Warning: There is a brief description of a failed sexual assault of a teen girl. I received a copy of the audiobook and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.

Didn’t love this book

The narration was good but is a little too sweet l, naive and innocent for some of the things she does, suddenly she’s fighting big bikers at the bar? The story is too rushed, and she’s too much involved with Hawk and seems to almost forget about why she’s in town. Sometimes she seems smart like she drives to Nashville and investigates her sisters whereabouts when the investigator doesn’t help. But then she goes on dates with a supposed bad boy, she doesn’t seem all that scared about the weird biker who follows her to the motel, and doesn’t mention him after the fire. And it would be nice to have more of Hawks side of emotions and thoughts, he keeps telling Robyn ‘we’ll find her’ but doesn’t do anything but show up at the right time with a gun at the end.

Loved the H but the h was a freaking idiot

I really got into this book and totally loved the H. The pace was very good as far as the main and subplots. However, one thing that I CANNOT stand is a weak whiney woman - especially one that always says that they are so independent and self-sufficient but makes some of the most idiotic decisions.

Recommended

The first thing that crossed my mind when I finished this story, Hask is a angel in a wolf's clothing. Such an uplifting story. There are such good hearted people helping Robyn to find her sister. There is hope.

Lissa Blackwell did a wonderful job bringing the story to life. I'm looking forward to hearing more from her.

I recieved a free Audible copy of this story, at my request, in exchange for a honest review.

Hawk’s Call

Robyn is such a strong woman having been dealt a bad hand in life early on and it doesn’t look like it’s going to get any better when her sister comes into some trouble. Luckily for Robyn, Hawk comes into the picture. She it then shown love, support and security. I loved listening to this couple and will define looking into more from this series.

Awesome

Just when I think that this author can’t beat the last two books that she released in this series this one comes out. It’s fast-paced enough that you want to keep reading and the characters don’t let you leave. Fantastic

Good story but a little too short

Overall a good contemporary romance but I wished the story was just a little bit longer. Particularly the conclusion of the story where the issues were resolved before the HEA. It felt a little sudden and rushed.

Other than that this book had a little of everything: strong yet vulnerable characters, a little suspense, a lot of chemistry, and romance. It is a light, easy and quick listen!

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
