A decade lost and a Daddy who won’t lose her twice…

Hawk

War carved the softness out of me. Regret buried the rest. Ten years ago, I let the only woman I’ve ever loved slip through my fingers because I wouldn’t trust her with the secret that blackens my soul. I've buried myself in dark-ops missions, violence and blood to forget what it meant to own her.

In a twist of fate, I find Reese Thompson thrust back into my life. She’s not just my past. She’s the job. Protecting her is the one mission I can’t afford to fail, even if it means ripping open old wounds and wanting her like I never stopped.

Reese

I swore I’d never forgive him. Christopher Hawkins. The man who shattered my heart and left me broken with nothing but questions. Now he’s back, not by choice but by circumstance. He’s the only thing standing between me and the people who want me dead.

Being this close to him again is like standing in the wreckage of everything we were, the heat between us burning hotter than my hatred. The thought of trusting him again feels just as dangerous as the enemies closing in. He’s harder, darker, and lethal in ways that scare me… But he has always known how make me be his good girl.

This audiobook surpassed every expectation I had, and it made me remember how much I love Hawk and Reese. Tor and Shiloh did an excellent job of bringing these characters to life. They definitely did them justice.

I love a good second chance romance, and this book was second chance perfection.

Reese and Hawk are just so perfect together. Their chemistry is off the charts, and I loved how they balance each other out, while also lifting each other up.

The story is action-packed from beginning to end. It will literally keep you on the edge of your seat. And I gotta say, chapter 46 hit so close to home... that was the cherry on top of a very delicious Daddy sundae.

Quote: “You’re my truth, Reese. My home. Every battle I’ve ever fought led me here. To you. And if fate had to drag us through hell to get us here, just know I’d do it all over again if it meant I got to have you.”

“Somehow, fate decided we were inevitable. And I think she’s right.”

This one was such a great listen! J.L. Quick’s book are quickly becoming some of my favorite listens!

🖤Military romance
🖤Second chance
🖤Forced proximity
🖤Only one bed

Reese and Hawk once had this amazing love. Until Hawk left for the greater good, but their love never died.

Now they are together once again after Reese discovered some terrible things while she is a journalist. Hawk and his team are there to protect her, and they both get way more than they expected.

This book has the “it’s always been you” theme throughout the book and I loved that for them!

Shilo James and Tor Thom rocked this one! Their voices really brought the emotional aspect to top tier level for me!

Powerful listen! Second chance at love!

After ten years apart, Hawk and Reese are thrown back together when she becomes the target of a dangerous threat and he’s the one assigned to protect her. What unfolds is a second chance romance layered with tension, secrets, and unresolved feelings that never really went away.

This was such a solid first read from J.L. Quick for me. While it leans lighter on the “dark” side, the story delivers in suspense and spice, which made it an engaging and fast listen. I especially loved the military elements they added intensity and had me feeling like I was watching an action-packed army movie, always wondering what would happen next.

Reese was a standout for me, strong, resilient, and not afraid to face the danger around her. Hawk brings that tough, brooding energy, but you really see the weight of his past and the growth he goes through. Their emotional journey and character development were definitely a highlight.

Some parts felt a bit drawn out toward the end, but it also gave more time to see everything come full circle and I really loved how their story concluded.

The narration by @shiloh_james_narrator and @tor_thom truly elevated the experience, both brought depth, emotion, and intensity that made the story come alive.

Reese is a war journalist and stumbles across something she shouldn't have. Hawk and his team is sent to protect her while she uncovers the story. But Hawk and Reese have a past. She doesn't want his help but he's determined to complete his mission. The tension between these two palpable and chemistry was explosive.

The audiobook is narrated in duet by Shiloh James and Tor Thom. The were spectacular narrators for their characters. I enjoyed both performances.

If I thought this story was delicious and impactful reading it, the audio really brings it to life. Tor & Shiloh were good choices for Hawk & Reese. The way they were able to bring to life the emotions, tension, and even the danger, was awesome. And let's not forget about the SPICE. The spice was Hot. Hot. Hot. Reading these daddies is one thing, but listening to Daddy Hawk had me melting in my seat. It was a bit of a slow start for me but it was the same while reading.. I would definitely recommend not only reading Daddy Hawk but listening to him as well!

Great job Shiloh and Tor!
