Acerca de esta escucha

Welcome to Marshmallow Hollow, Maine - where magic and murder collide!

For an adorable little Christmas town, Marshmallow Hollow sure sees a lot of action. Just days off the last murder - solved by moi, Halliday Valentine, and my gorgeous tenant, Hobbs - I'm eagerly awaiting a visit from my dear Uncle Darling and his husband, Monty, when my phone blows up.

Another murder, this time at the convenience store on the edge of town...and Uncle Monty was hurt in the process.

Without hesitation, Hobbs and I jump into action, seeking justice for the deceased and both of my uncles. Between ambulance-chasing lawyers, career-climbing journalists, and chain-smoking ex-drug dealers, we have more than enough suspects to go around.

But how do any of them connect to three missing girls from neighboring towns? Will Monty, the only living witness, be safe while the killer's at large? Will Atticus, my adorbs hummingbird familiar, magic me to Siberia when I use one too many spells for his liking?

And most of all, how will handsome Hobbs react when he learns my frequent "migraines" are a lot less neurological...and a whole lot more paranormal?

Dakota Cassidy has done it again with Have Yourself a Merry Witchmas the latest addition to her wonderful book/audiobook to continue the Marshmallow Hollow series. It has great characters who quickly seem more like old friends than mere characters in a story and an intriguing mystery to keep you guessing until the very end.

Hollie Jackson, as always gave a stellar performance as she breathed life into her storyline and gave each character their own distinct voice.

I highly recommend this book to cozy mystery fans.

A great addition to the series

This book was so much better than her first book in this series, however you really need to read the first one so you know what alls going on.

If you like the Witchless in Seattle series, you’ll probably love this one. I know that I do.

The story combines mystery, extremely likable characters, humor, and just a touch of light romance. I can’t wait till the next one.

Wonderful

I have not read any other Dakota Cassidy series but plan to check them out after enjoying Marshmallow Hollow so much. This has a kind of Paranormal Hallmark Mystery feel but with a few dark moments sprinkled in. This is by no means gritty like Urban Fantasy but there are several intense scenes involving descriptions of violence and the murdered body. It does not feel excessive or unnecessary (or even very long) but I just mention it because this did seem different than the standard paranormal cozy books where they almost barely say the word blood. I really find that I enjoy the protagonist, Halliday Valentine, her magical familiars, her police officer friend, and her friend/love interest Hobbs. These stories don't feel a break neck pace but are well developed. I am able to follow the main character's logic and the ways she is involved feel more legitimate than most cozy mysteries which I enjoy because I spend less time eye rolling at the flimsy motivations for characters to investigate and more time enjoying the mystery, magic, and character development. I also love how magic is incorporated throughout the tale and Hal's visions. I will also say that the emotion evoked in the story is done surprisingly well and not over dramatic but genuine moments of tugging heart strings for various situations and characters. I did indeed feel some tension in the story climax but like a true cozy happy endings are assured and some humor guaranteed. The romance here feels sweet and laid back not hot and heavy and not that rushed love at first sight. I was impressed again with the narration and clear distinction between characters and styles of speaking. I am excited to jump into the next volume of this series.

I enjoy Dakota’s books but this one drove me nuts with how many times she repeated the clues. Seriously did we need to hear them a dozen times?

Repetitive clues too much
