Do you run into trouble within relationships with people at home, at work, in a business, or whatever because you feel like you need to control the situation? Stoicism is an ancient Western philosophy whose simple, time-tested teachings of virtue, confidence, and self-control have inspired generations of scholars and spiritual practitioners...one of its main tenets is that we don’t always have control over what happens to us, yet we do have control over how we react.

Mindfulness is a very clear term. It suggests that the mind attends fully to what is happening, to what you are doing, and to the space through which you are moving. That may sound trivial, with the exception of the irritating fact that we so frequently veer from the matter. Our mind is fleeing, we're losing touch with our body, and we're getting stuck in obsessive thoughts about something that's just happening or worrying about the future pretty soon. And that leaves us nervous.

Story
Many spiritual-related matters have been narrated and studied with authenticity. They continue to inspire many people, and the gemstones in them continue to guide many facets of their lives. Sometimes we are not teachers, but we can be more than that or remain to be the same. As we navigate through life, we wish always to learn to meditate. We could resort to seeking meditation teachers, but in most of cases, that is not feasible. In essence, this book draws some tidbits and shrewd sentiments from those who vigorously exerted themselves to meditation, including Buddhists.

I would highly recommend it to everyone looking for inspirational introduction to Buddhism and its teachings. Such wonderful wisdom shared with clarity and humor. I would recommend this book to everyone, beginners and those with years of practice. Loved it. Very informative and entertaining as well. Darren Schilling is an excellent teacher. Fantastic.

Thorough, beautiful and deep
I got this to fill in the gaps in my understanding of Buddhism. I'm not exactly a beginner, but I have emphasized certain aspects in my study and practice. I wanted a fuller understanding. Not only does this audio book give a thorough understanding of the basics, it touches the heart with its love and deep spirituality. Thompson is a truly wise man. I recommend this to both beginners and those who want to add more depth to their practice.

A great first look into Buddhism
Even if you are not looking for enlightenment, this selection has information for leading a calm, centered and spiritual life. At first the live audience threw me off but I came to appreciate their reactions and laughter and got great enjoyment from it. I also purchased Meditation for Beginners from Darren Schilling and have also found it helpful and enjoyable. Listen at bedtime for a great nights sleep. Would recommend.
