Publisher's Summary

Dirk Pitt returns, in the thrilling new novel from the grand master of adventure and number one New York Times best-selling author.

While investigating a toxic outbreak in the Caribbean Sea that may ultimately threaten the United States, Pitt unwittingly becomes involved in something even more dangerous - a post-Castro power struggle for the control of Cuba. Meanwhile, Pitt's children, marine engineer Dirk and oceanographer Summer, are on an investigation of their own, chasing an Aztec stone that may reveal the whereabouts of a vast historical Aztec treasure. The problem is, that stone was believed to have been destroyed on the battleship Maine in Havana Harbor in 1898, which brings them both to Cuba as well - and squarely into harm's way. The three of them have been in desperate situations before... but perhaps never quite as dire as the one facing them now.

Another exciting adventure for the Pitt's.

What made the experience of listening to Havana Storm the most enjoyable?

For some reason I was not that familiar with the Cuban history as I thought. It was interesting to get some details of Cuba.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Always hard to put the Cussler books down. I listen on my drive to work, and never want to park my car because then the action has to pause until quitting time.

Any additional comments?

I very much recommend this book for Cussler fans.

Are they even trying anymore?

What disappointed you about Havana Storm?

I can take a few coincidences and a bit of pseudoscience, but this was really bad.

Has Havana Storm turned you off from other books in this genre?

Yep. I have been growing tired of this series, this is definitely the end for me.

What didn’t you like about Scott Brick’s performance?

Great performance as always.

Poor! Poor! Poor!

What would have made Havana Storm better?

Better story, better writing, better reader.

Has Havana Storm turned you off from other books in this genre?

From Clive Cussler's newer books. He used to be great.

What didn’t you like about Scott Brick’s performance?

Absolutely no energy, too matter of fact, inability to use different voices.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I have always loved Clive Cussler's books, but this is the last one I will read due to the following:
The story is predictable and boring without any inner development of the characters. It is poorly written, seems like a high school student wrote it.

Any additional comments?

I would like my money back as this was a total waste of time. It is a book for a non-thinking person. Cussler should read some Baldacci to get a feel for how a book should be written a character be developed.

He needs to reread his earlier books and then try to write something new. It seems as if he has helpers who are writing his books on a computer by pasting sections together. The laboratory sequence is the most boring and poorly written I have heard of his work.

Needs a different narrater

If you could sum up Havana Storm in three words, what would they be?

Pretty good story

Who was your favorite character and why?

Pitt, the senior because he's been around longer and he seems quite attractive.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

For 4/5 of the book, he spoke in such a slow, affected manner which was not natural. It bothered me so much I had to struggle to pay attention. Finally, for some reason in the end of the book, he started speaking naturally and it made all the difference.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

My extreme reaction was for the narrater.

OK but getting a bit tired

It's good to be out on the Caribbean but I think the story had to force itself along. The earlier works are better.

Love a great adventure yarn

Clive Cussler never fails to please. They may be a bit repetitive, but love the escapism and adventure. Scott Brick reads it perfectly.

Very Good

Another good quality story from Clive Cussler.
Scott Brick narrates wonderfully once again..
I'm starting to become quite the Cussler fan. Wasn't quite up to the quality of The Wrecker, but still a great book nonetheless.

A treasure trove in more ways than one

My first Cussler read, won't be my last, evocative, descriptive, warm, intelligent characters, good narration, what's not to like. Exciting too.
