In love…

I am in love with the Thornchapel series and this book was such an add. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Every moment I could listen to it even for a minute or two I went head first! Yeah so theres some things that people don’t do or they are not okay. But this is a book, its a fantasy book. It’s supposed to entertain our minds. I think this story is beautiful and I can’t wait to read the next one, but I also don’t want it to end! I think that Sierra Simone is a fantastic writer and I love how free she lets her mind be.

Sierra Simone always delivers

If possible this installment was more heartbreaking than the last. I loved that we got more background in the world and everything has come to a crescendo in preparation for the final book. I have no idea how this is going to end well but I cannot wait to go on the journey.

Thank god she changed narrators

I’m so glad we got rid of the breathy female narrator. It was nice having a few people for different voices. The narrator for Rebecca was a bit annoying, but you become so enthralled in the story that you’re able to ignore it.

Now to the story. It was great… until it wasn’t. Get ready for a heartbreaking ending that makes you want to read more and more. This one was finally more Sierra like (aside from the incest), but it fits with the story.

I liked how the story came along in this installment and am excited for the last one.

What in the f*ckery goodness is even this?

I think I can't emphasize enough how much I enjoy this woman's words. Simone, you have my attention once again and have me on the edge of my bed wanting to know what you could possibly throw at me. The narration is stunning for this one as well and I dare to say the narrators made this book so much more.

A very special book, made lesser by recasting.

I read this book five times before the audiobook came out, so I'd say I know it pretty well.

It was certainly the book that cemented Thornchapel as my favorite series, and I vividly remember how hypnotized I was by some of the scenes on my first read, so intimate, emotional and raw. Sierra Simone has an incredibly unique and rare ability to take you to the most miraculous places if you are willing to put your guard down enough to allow her to, and the story of Harvest of Sighs is a masterwork in that.

I know HOS is meant to center around Rebecca and Delphine but I think it's obvious that Auden and Saint are the dominant pairing once you're in it, and it's their relationship that makes this book so extraordinary and heartfelt and mesmerizing.

As excited as I was to see it was going to be a full cast, I ended up struggling with so many different voices -- especially because the two voices/characters from the previous audiobooks were recast, so it was a lot to adjust too. My primary issue was with the recasting of Zachary Webber, who gave such a TREMENDOUS and inspired performance as St. Sebastian in Feast of Sparks -- no matter how good his replacement might be, it doesn't really matter because it doesn't sound like Saint to me. I certainly appreciate that the recasting was probably to have someone Latinx voice Saint, but it doesn't make the listening experience any easier after having known the splendor of Zachary Webber as Saint.

I also had a hard time listening to so many people portraying Auden in their POVs. It was all very inconsistent and kind of painful.

I am excited to know that Zachary Webber will be coming back to voice Auden in Door of Bruises, but I'm pretty bummed about this installment of the audiobooks won't be as much a pleasure to come back to as the previous two.

Cliff hangers

I had a 4 part series where the third book is full of cliff hangers and the next book is not available as a audio book .....at least tell me when it will be available as a audio book ....

Well it's book 3...

This is not linked in Audible to the series but it is the third book of the Thornchaple series. I was so sucked in by the end of book 2, I didn't even question purchasing this book. At this point I already didn't like Rebecca. I don't believe that this was written by someone who is an actual domme. You can correct me but she's mean and treats Delphine badly. It's a complete joke. Their whole relationship is BS. I honestly suggest reading the spoilers and then skipping to the 4th and final book. The narrator who butchers Pro-sur-pee-na should be fired, she was a terrible choice. Oh and the Saint Sebastian narrator missed the memo that this kid grew up in Texas and UK. He should not sound like he's from California. Epic narrator fail.

False advertising | Ruined by recasting

Going into this book, I was excited that Rebecca would be receiving her own voice actress. However, a huge part of the reason I purchased this audiobook was that Zachary Webber is listed as a narrator. So I was quite surprised to see that both Saint Sebastian and Poe have been re-cast.

While the person doing Saint Sebastian is decent,coming off the last book and Zachary Webber giving such a distinct voice to Saint Sebastian it was incredibly distracting and hard to listen to. Also, the woman voicing Paul is just unfortunate, and has me to the point that I am ready to return the book and ask for my money back. Even just the way she says Proserpina is nasally and awkward, so the start of each chapter is like nails on a chalkboard.

Fans of the novel, or fans of the prior audiobooks, should definitely skip this one.

Too much of not good stuff

I absolutely love Sierra Simones writing, but this was not it for me. She's a beautiful writer and I love how she integrates faith and religion into this. But there is hella incest in this. Like HELLA incest. I was 100% ready for that cliffhanger from book two to be resolved and scrambled to start this book so I could see how she handled that story line. It's taboo. It's complex. Things that she can handle flawlessly. You could feel how visceral and heartbreaking it was for the characters. But then they just kept boning and I had to skip their chapters because like, incest. Not even Sierra Simone could make it palatable.

I wish there was less of that and more of Becks and Delphines story.
