Publisher's summary

It happened in early September, the time of year when the city does its damndest to remember what heat was, just one more time before winter rocks on in ...

This is a story of horror and haunting regret.

A group of homeless men - fishing for a little fun and folly - latch onto something that might be a mermaid.

Remember, regret lives on and lingers - long after the last tear drop has fallen.

Better than Splash!

Ok, I have to admit first, that I loved this story, Second, I've listened to it three times. Third, I really wish there was more of this, it is so intriguing and captivating. What happens when an old man goes fishing, and ends up landing a mermaid? A great story, that's what.

Another admission, I'm kind of a tough guy, and don't like namby pamby girly stuff (like mermaids), but I got this book after reading Vernon's Kelpie Dreams. Regardless of my indelicate sensibilities, I really found Vernon's fascination with the sea o be some incredible storytelling. In under 20 minutes you have a lot of characterization and a powerful plot. It is amazing to see him do so much in so short a period of time.

Tom Zainea is great as the narrator, and I could listen to him on a few other books without complaint. He compliments Vernon's style like bacon goes with eggs. Very Fulfilling.

If you are in the mood for a great story with realistic characters get this mermaid tail now.

38 cubic tons of plesiosaurus and I threw it back!!!

Steve Vernon’s tales are always entertaining. He writes stories that are just the perfect blend of quirky character and The Twilight Zone. This particular story of the sea was fun because the characters were well developed. For being only 19minutes, this is no small feat.
At the heart of everyman lies regret and you can tell a lot about a man’s character by what he regrets. In the case of Harry, it is the loss of his son. Finding redemption/forgiveness is not easy. Sometimes it comes in the strangest of packages.

The narration was excellent as they always are with Vernon’s books.

I requested a free preview copy of this audiobook and I am leaving a voluntary and honest review.
