Jerome Prouty never had much of a life. Teased and harassed as a kid, suffering his mother's disapproval, he stumbled through life doing the best he could. Then one night he's the victim of a hit and run. The damage is profound, the pain endless. He spent his days dragging himself around town and being shunned. Realizing he may be dying he asks Harry to find his killer. Harry, like the others, shuns him. A day later Jerome is in an ICU. Driven by guilt and remorse, Harry, with Cat in tow, attempts to redeem himself by trying to find the hit and run driver. He enlists the help of Jerome's caustic, neurotic mother, follows vague clues, and caters to Cat's demands.
