Amazing and Eye Opening

This book made me rethink and appreciate my life, an amazing and inspiring story told the by The GREAT Bob The Drag Queen.

My heart is racing

I made the mistake of starting this audiobook last night after my shift bartending…. I am now on Chapter 10, haven’t slept and my heart is racing with anticipation on what’s going to happen. Bob is such an amazing storyteller. I can’t wait to see how this story all ties together in the end. Excellent work!!

can't wait til it's a musical

i love this concept and its characters. it would be really cool as a musical (or at least had an accompanying album lol) so that harriet's songs could come to life.

The story

Incredible read. Love the modern take on it and bobs voice is always great to listen to.

Tour de force

If you read this in hard copy or the Kindle version, you must also listen to the recording. The musical performances at the end form the epilogue that reveals everything. Because if words conveyed everything, why would we need music?

We’ve all heard interviews in which the person is asked, “if you could meet/lunch with/spend time with anyone, living or dead, who would that be? Bob the Drag Queen brings Harriet Tubman and her entourage through the veil to challenge him where he is, with the request (well, actually, the demand!) that his persona tell her story through his skill as a Grammy winning hip hop producer who has left the business in the wake of a public betrayal. Bob the Drag Queen’s diction and explication seem to me to be a bridge for white persons while the plot, characters, and priorities are firmly and as emotionally invested and loud and proud as a black gay person could be.

“Don’t you deserve freedom,” demands Harriet of the first person narrator and by extension to all of us readers.

I'm from the south and am not a big fan of historical fiction but THIS!!!! was an amazing listen!

Heartfelt and brilliant concept!

I loved hearing this tale told in the voice of our beloved, Bob TDQ! If you know Bob, their passion for black history and culture is synonymous with the brand. That stands true in this fictional story of Harriet Tubman returning to reach the new generation, to stress the importance of black history, excellence, and the importance of not forgetting our past. While it was a nice escape from reality, it tied in important themes of todays society.

Listen too & enjoy.

I really enjoyed how the author mixed histories truth with today's locations & people. I also enjoyed the way the story was presented by the author. I intend to buy a hard copy & give it to my children who are into the hip hope scene.

A Fresh Take

I always love when an author reads their own work, and Bob did a wonderful job. Such a unique story with very tangible story-telling, and the two original songs at the end are a great bonus. Quick listen that had me captivated the whole time.
