Story
Time is running out. For the final ritual, Katherine will sacrifice 12 magicals with rare abilities. Harley has already lost so much, and she can’t bear to sacrifice anything more. She will protect her friends at all costs - even if that means flying solo against the greatest evil the world has ever known. With her parents’ Grimoire, Harley finally has a weapon capable of overpowering Katherine. If only she could figure out how to reveal the hidden pages within, to perform the spell Chaos itself has written. And the spell may reveal more than she’s bargained for.

Magical mapmaking is an ancient art - and also a major pain. At least, Finch can’t help but feel that way since Erebus transported him to the mapmakers’ monastery with little to no instructions. Now, he’s stranded on some Greek island until he can learn how to draw maps to places he thought only existed in legends, like El Dorado and Shangri-La.

Finch is in deep, with no surface in sight. He hadn’t expected a welcoming party when they whirlpooled into Atlantis - although “welcoming” isn’t exactly the right word. More like “mildly hostile”. As descendants of the powerful Primus Anglicus, the Atlanteans are not to be trifled with. But Erebus isn’t leaving until he gets what he wants - and neither is Davin. Caught in the midst of a political battle royale, Finch can only ride out the waves. And he knows he’ll be lucky to escape this underwater prison without leaving anyone behind.

Story
Harley Merlin can sense people's emotions, among other things. It's how she snagged her first job pinpointing cheaters at a casino. But she has no clue where she got these freakish powers because she spent her childhood jumping from home to home in the foster system, and her father left her with nothing more than a cryptic note. Then she crosses paths with a terrifyingly real monster. Which is when a mysterious and annoyingly arrogant young warlock named Wade Crowley steps in, introducing her to a hidden world of beasts, magicals, and covens riddled with secrets.

Like most sane people, student Alex Webber thought he was hallucinating - perhaps he'd consumed something bad at the party he'd been attending that night, or he was severely overtired. Story
I celebrated when vampires were declared extinct. Those beasts had preyed on humanity for millennia, committing senseless, brutal murders. Like the rest of my colleagues at the Occult Bureau, I looked forward to a world where we could all sleep at night - where constant cover-up jobs were no longer required to keep the public calm and unaware. But the end of vampires wasn't the end of our problems. It was only the beginning.

Publisher's Summary
Without magic, Harley knows the odds of defeating Katherine are stacked against them. Yet a sliver of hope survives in the pages of her parents’ Grimoire. The final, mind-boggling spell entails making a deal with a Child of Chaos. But what must be offered in return?
Finch wants to be the one who ends Katherine. Mother Dearest brought him into the world, and he wants to take her out. He will give anything for that chance - even his life.
Meanwhile, Katherine needs Harley’s body, or her carefully crafted façade will crumble. And she can’t let that happen, not when she’s so close to becoming a goddess walking the Earth.
Unbeknownst to them all, Chaos still has surprises in store - ones that not even Eris herself could predict - in a showdown of epic proportions.

Dragged out way too long...
The series started out strong, but it just dragged on way too long, it. And it really affected the story and how you felt about the characters. I love Amanda Ronconi's narration, but even she couldn't save some sections for me. I actually skipped a couple of chapters.

these books should have ended three books ago
I really struggled to finish this series. it started off so strong but then the last 3 books just felt like they literally only made them to make more money, and not because they were actually needed. Especially this last book!
Spoiler Alert: the entire series ends about half way through this book and the rest of it is them closing the story which could have been done in one chapter. The only reason I continued was because I hate stopping in the middle of a series but the long speeches they were having throughout this book for no reason were painful and I wish I could have skipped through them as a whole.

Character monologues got way to long
Character monologues got to be way to long and boring dragging on and on the author could have found a more interesting way of revealing plot twists and tying everything up and bringing it together, I also think the author started Wade out as a strong character in the beginning of this series and basically turned him into mush by the end. He needs to strong to be Harley’s equal and the witty banter between them needs to return.

Done
This was really the last straw for me with this series. Katherine could easily have been ended in the previous book, and when she was in this one, there was an obviously place to end the book but it just. kept. going. I'm mildly curious about the next steps for Harley, but the next book is from Finch's point of view, which has less appeal, not least of which because Finch got way less interesting as the series went on, no longer snarky but sappy and all sunshine. Speaking of which, the huge, soppy, everyone is crying and hanging on each other before the big fight because they might die scene was disgustingly melodramatic and hackneyed. Even Finch was sobbing? You see my point. And while I had somewhat liked the narrator at first, she's terrible, and I mean terrible at male voices, and she completely lost the vaguely unique voice she used for Finch and others became indistinguishable from each other. She can do some accents but not others.

Fantastic plot but ENDLESS REPs OF SOUL SEARCHING
Imaginative and satifyingly complex plot but sooooooooo much repetition of soul searching by all main characters! I paraphrase 'Oh woe is me this is so dangerous - I might die - my friends might die - but I have to do it anyway!!!' AND repeat ad infinitum!!!!! If I had a more ungenorous soul I might suggest that it is blatant padding. Sorry, but you are so much better than this!!!

As gripping as Game of Thrones
I have thoroughly enjoyed this series of books. Totally grabbed me from the very beginning, worked my way through all 9 in a row. Highly recommend for anyone that is looking for something between Harry Potter and Game of Thrones; thrilling and full of magic but minus the sex and incest. Pitched for "young adults" but I'm in my 30s and have loved them!
Amanda Ronconi's narration is flawless. She has a different voice and accent for each character which she performs with excellence every time.
All-round amesome.

I'm nearly 40 but I loved these books. A bit like Harry Potter for grown ups. Finch is my fave character and in the end in my opinion, makes the main character appear dull. It's humorous on parts, touching in others and just generally quite enthralling.
