Publisher's Summary

Harlem is a beautiful, smart, and funny 17-year-old. She lives in the projects with her drug-addicted parents. They are so far gone that Harlem must fend for herself and at times do a little hustling of her own to feed their habit.

As if things can’t get worse, Harlem’s world is turned upside down when her mother dies from a drug overdose and her father pulls the ultimate betrayal by prostituting her. Harlem is pushed into an adult world and into the hands of a crime and drug lord named Chief, who gives Harlem every luxury she has ever dreamed of, and more pain and suffering than she can stand.

Things unfold when an old crush named Savior and the crime lord Stuckey show up. A war over turf is waged between Stuckey and Chief. Harlem finds herself in the middle, leaving her to once again depend on the strength she has inside to find a way out.

Harlem on Lock is a story of love, revenge, and redemption.

What Type Of Messed Up Individual Creates This?

I have listened to a lot of stuff on Audible. Some of which has made me question myself for even devoting my time to it. But THIS book not only made me question myself, and all the people who recommended it but it made me question the heck out of the messed up individual who could create something so terrible. The writing style itself wasn't terrible (it wasn't great either) but the content, the lifestyle this character had to endure for simply being born was one of the hardest books I have ever had to listen too. This book has a lot of triggers for a lot of reasons so listen with caution.

Harlem and Savior

Well this book truly pulled you in from the beginning. Poor Harlem her life was a hot mess. Then getting hooked up with that crazy chief. Was he an Indian? Overall the book was okay. I did like the ending. 🤔

A very depressing read.. don’t recommend

Whew! This is an extremely sad story .. the story literally goes from bad to worst. Just when you think there’s about to be a little goodness.. BOOM something bad or terrible happened... if you don’t want to feel sad or depressed for the ENTIRE book??? Don’t read this BOOK ! On a brighter note the narrater was great

Great Read

the only thing I will say is that I did not like how dinky the author made Harlem I do not believe that any person could be that naive it was like as soon as she get to the point where she's out or could be out she chooses to stay or when someone tells her to do something that is actually to help her she does quite the opposite I have never

Unexpected

This book was great. The title sent me into other thinking. The twist was a good one. Just because you are from the projects, you can still have big dreams and make them come true.

Harlem locked it down!!

Very intense story that had me glued the entire time!! There was many times that I cringed, but it was necessary for the plot.
