“Happiness is not an achievement. It is your nature.” —Osho

Happiness is the twelfth title in the Osho bestselling Insights for a New Way of Living series, and the first new title in the series since 2017.

The popular Insights for a New Way of Living challenges listeners to examine and break free of the conditioned belief systems and the prejudices that limit their capacity to live life in all its richness. The audiobooks shine light on beliefs and attitudes that prevent individuals from being their true selves. The text is an artful mix of compassion and humor, and listeners are encouraged to confront what they would most like to avoid, which in turn provides the key to true insight and power.

There is so much pure gold in this book. It may challenge some deeply held beliefs and frameworks, but I appreciated the directness and backing up of each statement. Enjoy!

If you are truly prepared to be happy…

Someone clearly put a lot of effort into this because they picked some of Osho's best talks. Many people have trouble understanding Osho but this talk is narrated making this an easy collection of talks to take in. Here's just a few of the things that are mentioned in this talk. Do not reject sadness or anger but understand that these emotions are self expression thus one will not be divided but instead accepting the energy and absorbing it. Don't reject anything, accept all that you are. Be yourself there are many paths all heading to the same source. People take drugs to chase happiness but one must understand that it is not a lasting happiness. It's like the skyline where the sun sets, even if you rush towards it you will never arrive. Even happiness itself is a mirage because it acts just like a drug and many people are forcing happiness upon themselves. So many people paint their faces with a smile but they are merely doing it to be acceptable to society's standards while within they are sorrowful. When one chooses happiness, they chase suffering. Wanting something typically creates the opposite. Accepting the dichotomy of life and seeing it as a flux means you can no longer be trapped in your feelings. A Buddha can go to Hell and not be suffering because they are not choosing. Choosing creates suffering, if one does not choose them one cannot suffer. Then it's just polarity and accepting the experience makes it far easier to maintain ones equanimity. Knowing this world of light and dark when one embraces the polarity through surrender they will find bliss. Embrace the polarity of existence. People acquire all the things they want and still don't find happiness. One would say I have finally achieved everything I want and yet I am not happy. This achievement has only stripped bare that the need of the things only hid the inner destitution. A person can be happy without all these things in fact this is the natural human state. Search within and know the one and through this all desires are fulfilled. The answer does not lie outside yourself in all the sense objects but lies within bliss itself which is only found within. People look for a new wife, a new house, a new car but never consider changing themselves and becoming more conscious. Blissfulness does not need to be rooted in meaning, in fact once you start seeking meaning to be happy then you become a calculator, a mind and then everything loses it meaning. Trying to be joyful, pretending to be happy is the surest way to kill any joy. You can deceive others but you can never deceive yourself and each time you fake feeling happy you are going farther away from feeling bliss. Don't fight with existence but be a part of it, sometimes it is sadness, sometimes it is joy, and sometimes it is anger. Embrace and enjoy these feelings and through self expression they will fall away.

This is a collection of all Osho's best speeches on happiness.

*A Mixed Bag*
I recently read [Book Title] and had mixed feelings about it. The author raises some valid points about individuality and self-expression, which I appreciated. The writing style is engaging, and the author's passion for the subject matter shines through.

However, I felt that the book was overly focused on Indian, Muslim, and Christian cultures, with repeated comparisons and references. While it's essential to acknowledge and respect diverse perspectives, the constant emphasis on these specific cultures felt forced and exclusionary.

What bothered me more was the author's tendency to disparage other viewpoints and cultures using derogatory language like "rubbish" and "stupid." Such language not only detracts from the author's credibility but also creates a toxic atmosphere.

Despite its flaws, the book does offer some valuable insights into individuality and self-discovery. If you're willing to overlook the problematic aspects, you might find some useful takeaways.

*Rating: 3/5*
Ultimately, I believe the book could have benefited from a more nuanced and respectful approach to exploring complex themes. By doing so, the author could have created a more inclusive and thought-provoking read.
