A 5 star must have for ages 5 to 10 🌟

I love Brothers Grimm stories. I'm so pleased I got to share this one with my granddaughter who also loved it. This book is made even better by Heidi Gregory's narration. I was given a free copy of this book at my request and have voluntarily decided to leave this review.

Story of good overcoming evil.

The story opens with a domineering wife and her panty-waisted husband who falls down before her evil plans instead of growing a backbone and doing the right thing. So it starts with an evil situation in which evil triumphs. But that is not the end of the story. The next act pictures an evil cannibalistic witch who offers Hansel and Gretel a life of luxury for nothing. They get wise and... get the story to find out

Excellent retelling if this classic story.

Classic tale all will enjoy!

Everyone knows the story of Hansel and Gretel, but I am not sure I ever read the original version of it. The narration of Heidi Gregory gives it a bit of an English flavor which is so appropriate for the tale.

My step-daughters ages 6 and 9 enjoyed listening to this at bedtime. Fun story for all ages.

Classic, and just what you would expect

Story:
This is a reading of the classic story that has horrified millions of children for two centuries. A story of bravery, the love of a brother and sister, and a moral of good's triumph over evil. However, in my opinion the brow-beaten father is let off easy in this one.

Narration:
The story is expertly narrated and a pleasure to listen to!

Conclusion:
This is a good addition to your modern library and a great way to continue the nightmares for generations to come!

Great story for children

I was a little bit concerned that this story would be a little too morbid and scary for my 7 year old. Some of the original Grimm fairytales have a somewhat morbid twist. This story, however, wasn't too bad.

The worst parts for children were the fact that their parents wanted to abandon them in the forest and the part where they shoved the witch in the oven. Nothing was too graphic or gruesome for my 7 year old.

The narrator did a great job and I felt like she was a good fit for the story.

Classic well read

This is the fourth book I’ve read/listened to by this author. This story had a little more detail than I’ve ever read before. One of the typical classic fairy tales.

This is the fourth book I’ve listened to by this narrator. She again puts forth an excellent narration of a kids book.

There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive violence or swearing.

Don't take candy from strangers.

It's always funny how dark some of these old children's tales can be, and this is no exception. Child abandonment, abduction, cannibalism, oven murder, 'Hansel and Gretel' has it all. Heidi Gregory does her usual fantastic job narrating. An excellent production of a classic tale, and one I thoroughly enjoyed.

A Lovely Narration of a Wonderful Tale

This is such a wonderful tale to read but add in Heidi Gregory's narration and it truly is a lovely listen! Heidi Gregory does such an excellent job narrating these wonderful tales, giving the voices such uniqueness. If you haven't had the pleasure of hearing Ms. Gregory then I suggest you put it off no longer! You won't be disappointed.
