After the war, his adventures continue in The Three Hostages when he reluctantly agrees to help recover the kidnapped children of three prominent men; and then in The Island of Sheep, when an old oath to protect the son of a friend from his days in Africa draws him into new danger.

All 5 stories are top notch, the 39 Steps has always been one of my favorites didn’t have a clue about the others…..wonderful.

On the Run for 5 straight books. Really Exciting Interesting Stories.. WW 1 history lesson.

Buchan wins best action adventure writer in my book. I loved all 5 books. I knew little about WW1 era and have read less. It’s like entering into a new world where brave people live who face evil, and are very willing to fight to the death if they can stop evil or save innocense. These are our predessessors but you can’t find them around anymore. It is first person narration but he will go forward in time and say, “ later Peter told me his story.” Placing it in the middle of the action. Hard for me to imagine the war being fought on so many fronts. The evil men of that time are still around today. But we are a groomed bunch and don’t even notice the ways they are hurting us. Sometimes we even defend them, like the pro vacksers. Everyone should read these books to prepare themselves for our future.
