These two Halloween books are so out of alignment with the previous books in the series. These are not the loving happy fun books that the previous books are. These two Halloween books show the Judge to be shallow, self-centered, and thoughtlessly self-destructive, and worst, not learning from her own experiences. I have no idea what was happening with the author when she wrote these two books, it's like these books are part of some other series that is a constantly angst-ridden danger filled no fun at all thriller. And then at the end, after ten hours between the two of these books, we're given less than an hour and a half of actual court cases, and it's taken up by uninteresting monologues explaining uninteresting circumstances that show up in court. If you've got fun memories of Evie's wedding and the fun court cases in other books, do not expect to find anything of that quality or humor in these two Halloween books. These two books are sorrow and angst and no fun at all.
