Story
A mysterious house sits on a corner block on a hill in St. John's, Newfoundland, in one of the oldest cities in North America, a nondescript, three-story wooden cube, going slowly to seed. When local cops, John Green, Janis Lodge and Todd Wiggins are sent to investigate a multiple murder on the top floor of the property, they start opening doors and uncovering secrets. But like peeling the layers off an onion, each door opened only leads them deeper into the mystery. There are houses like this all over the world, and those who suffer are drawn to them, as John, Janis and Todd have been drawn. They have found their way in. Can they find their way out again? And at what cost?

If you ask Mikey Goretti, he'll tell you that life sucks. Wife left him, crappy jobs, nothing ever goes the way it should. How did a nice boy from a God-fearing family go so terribly wrong? And if Mikey loves girls so much - why do the girls he meets never seem to make it home? This tale of a serial killer, his best friend, and a heavenly angel will horrify and amuse - that is if you can see past all the red.

Kindred Spirits Bound By Darkness
One thing I have found listening to Terry M West is that you never know what type of story you are going to get. This one is perfect case in point. Have to admit the cover and title really are what made me want to listen to the story. Cleadosia definitely doesn't disappoint at all and really is the star of the story. Johnny was a great character, but, the darkness and sexiness of Cleadosia really outshines the issues Johnny has. The story is truly a love story made in hell and I would say the lesson learned is to be careful of who you fall in love or become infatuated with. A.J. Carter did a good job with the narration. I really enjoyed his different character voices and especially the carny voices. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

Not really a "romance"
I love horror and I love romance, so when this was touted as a "romance from hell", I was all over it but sadly that's not what it was. Granted this is a very short story and could very easily be from an anthology as it just has that "I was given a topic and wrote a quickie" type vibe but I digress. It starts with Johnny who is having a very hard time dealing with the death of his parents and decides to recreate some of his childhood memories by going to a classic carnival that is passing through. Johnny is having a fun time and is captivated by a slideshow attraction with a beautiful mysterious lady but all goes to hell in a hand basket (as my grandma used to say) when a local bully decides to pick on poor Johnny. Talk about a psycho on psycho on psycho action. It's a classic tale of who's the biggest hidden baddie and reminds me more of a twilight zone episode where everything is not what they seem. Not really horror or scary, just "ummmmm ok well there's that." kinda thing.
