Publisher's summary

Five tribes fight to the death.

Only one can survive.

In a dark vision of the near future, the Holy State of Borea is indoctrinating its citizens. No one is allowed to speak out against the government.

But even a repressive state cannot obliterate desire for freedom - not for Perry Benson, at least. While his wife falls more and more in love with the state's regime, he searches for a way out.

His path forward becomes clear, and he escapes to a distant forest. The repressive state cannot find him here - yet he is not the only one living between the trees.

Perry must fight for his life, and unravel the government’s secrets...before he is killed by one of the five tribes of Hades Forest.

Would Not Recommend.

It took me two attempts to finish this book. I read it at the prompting of the author, who contacted me via LinkedIn. Here's my review after finishing all 20 chapters:

While the author's descriptions are very imaginative and the dystopian concept horrifying, I couldn't ever seem to get invested in the characters or the plot. All the characters are terribly two dimensional, and the plot is hazy at best. On top of that, the audiobook reader has odd intonations and confusingly placed enthusiasm (in my opinion), and it seems like many of the author's words are needlessly gilded by a thesaurus. The journey to Hade's Forest didn't feel like an adventure as much as a conveyor belt of information that I needed to know to move the plot forward. The plot within Hade's Forest felt disjointed and at times completely random. I commend the author on his effort, but unfortunately I would not recommend this book to anyone. (1 out of 5 stars)

To qualify my critiques, I have never written a book, and I really hope the author keeps writing, because I can tell he might have the potential to write a really solid dystopian novel.
