Story
Captain Jason Reynolds is back! In the third installment of the Scrapyard Ship sci-fi adventure series, Space Vengeance, Jason, his family, and The Lilly's crew face the impending destruction of their internal nano-devices. What's worse, what remains of the Craing fleet, some 1,500 warships, is back and headed straight toward the already decimated planets within Allied space. In what looks to be a one-way suicide mission, Jason must leave Nan and Mollie behind on Earth and out of harm's way.

Thousands of crew are reported dead, including the ship’s captain. Reluctantly, the young XO, Galvin Quintos, will be taking command of the fleet's crippled dreadnaught, the USS Hamilton, while doing his best to bring fleet survivors back to Earth. To make matters worse, there’s a murderer running loose on board the ship, critically low fuel levels, and the Grish are back, in fast pursuit and ready to finish what they’d started. Only by sheer luck - and a good measure of cagey smarts - will Quintos be able to rise to the challenge.

His marriage was on the rocks, his sports betting was out of control, and he was hanging out with the wrong cronies in Manhattan’s Little Italy - just another war hero who couldn’t piece his life back together in the real world. Five years have passed, and the story begins in a dark period within the Star Watch saga. Captain Jason Reynolds, Omni of the US Space Fleet, along with his now 16-year-old daughter, Mollie, are en route to the Dacci System to attend the memorial service for none other than Boomer, his other daughter. Information on her death had been sketchy at best - an attack by the Sahhrain on Harpaign, during the Goldwon graduation trials. It had been a massacre.

After endless years of fighting in a galaxy-wide war, the most decorated super-soldier of the Old Federation was granted leave, sliding into a stasis tube aboard a sleeper ship. The ship never reached its port, and the soldier woke up a thousand years later on an operating table. The Old Federation was gone, most planets hurled back into the Stone Age. A devastated Earth used spies instead of spaceships to compete against the tougher, richer worlds.

It was a hard sell, but Cameron had convinced Heather to return to the exoplanet Sang-Morang - where he had hoped they could experience the wonder of this majestic corner of the universe, together. The spacecraft Primion was flight-ready and the immense creature - the Minal Loth - seemed content to follow him wherever he went. And he still had the old Ford pickup truck, gassed up, and ready to explore more of that alien landscape. But Cameron’s well-intentioned plan turns out to be one of his very worst.

A wicked snowstorm had blown in from the north and the roads were a mess. Recently split from his one-time girlfriend, there was now nothing holding Cameron Decker here in the little backwater mountain town of Larksburg Stand. Time to get back to college, back to Stanford. Seeing a guy knee-deep in slush at the side of the road, he pulled to the curb and waved him over. The guy smacked his head getting in - knocked his watch cap askew. Only then did Cameron notice - noticed that the individual couldn't possibly be human. Cameron decided to help his stranded passenger - a decision he'd soon come to regret. Along with his rust-bucket of a pickup truck, he was soon heading deep into space aboard an interstellar spacecraft. After the vessel crash-landed onto an alien world, he would now have to contend with a murderous droid and a slew of strange alien life forms.

Publisher's Summary
"Buckle up - this is another crazy ride!"
The Scrapyard Ship sci-fi "cliff-hanger" adventures continue with HAB 12, the second book in the series.
Captain Jason Reynolds faces new challenges, not only on Earth but from the far side of the universe as well. The only way to stop the Craing this time will be to square off with them on their home turf.
Jason's been informed that three powerful Craing warships, having similar technology as the Lilly, will soon be en route to Earth. The Alliance must destroy the Craing's wormhole means of distant space travel to avert Earth's total annihilation. Unfortunately, there's no way to reach the Craing worlds in time, at least not through conventional means.
It's up to Jason and his hand-picked assault team to traverse, by advanced phase-shifting means, through the hazardous environment of HAB 12. This is an adventure fraught with carnivores of a Jurassic Age magnitude, and a terrain so deadly that turning back may be their only hope of survival.

Wait for the entire series to come out
I would have given this book a 4 star rating and maybe a 4.5 if that existed if it wasn't for the ending of this book. Granted, I know the author wanted to leave the reader with a cliffhanger but to stop mid action and declare end of story? If you are like me and need some sort of resolution, then wait for the series to be completed. At this writing there is a second book but ends in the same manner. I really did enjoy the story but to be honest, I feel a bit cheated - like the author lacked the confidence I would buy his next book unless he left the reader hanging mid air. That way he could be assured I'd buy the next book just so I could get resolution to the story.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I can not recommend, the plot is nonsensical. Also tooo many sub plots to follow
What was most disappointing about Mark Wayne McGinnis’s story?
This books is not up to the standard of the first of the series. It like McGinnis is just throwing words to keep his publisher off his back
What about L. J. Ganser’s performance did you like?

And the series goes on.
This take truly feeds off of prior books.
While it not a cliff hanger series it does lean in that direction.
So yes I in fact own the entire series in Audible. L.J. Ganser makes stories does a stand out job in his narrative. I you like space operas , then this a audible series for you

Nonsensical tactical decisions
I couldn't finish because I was getting too irritated by the decisions the main character made, especially during the action. I had this problem with the first book, but wanted to give this series another chance. It was like a Michael Bay movie, action sequences strung together with little focus on plot and slim on things that make sense. It has its place, but if you are looking for military sci-fi that is more substantive this series is not it.

Absolutely no back up in this crew!
Okay. So I'm still trying to figure out how Jason 'n crew went thru the zoo in the basement to travel cross universe and pick up a couple of the Craing's newest warships in the process. But no matter how, this book fully draws a very vivid picture of all the Craing's short comings especially their preference for some unique foods. This #2 book doesn't drop the ball; it shows more characteristics of the crew and of the Earth's own inhabitants. Many of these are recognizable in today's leaders..... Gasner, as usual, makes us part of the story as it unfolds. Spend a credit and pretend you're at the Matinee!i

Potential is there but no recomendation.
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
I really wanted to like this book (series) but after finishing Scrapyard Ship and Hab 12 I simply can't recommend them. Simply put the story has way too many improbable if not impossible scenarios in quick succession with last second rescues or eureka moments.
What could Mark Wayne McGinnis have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
I liked the original tech and weaponry introduced in this series but it was too overwhelming in it's implementation. Also it became too predictable with the realization that EVERYTHING discovered or that was brought up in a conversation became fact much too soon.
What aspect of L. J. Ganser’s performance would you have changed?
Nothing wrong with the performance at all. Probably the only reason I actually finished the books. But I won't be finishing the series.
What character would you cut from HAB 12?
Easy choice...Alice ! Obvious story padding or a marketing character if the books are ever made into a movie. Highly unlikely!
Any additional comments?
Nope.

Good series
I'm enjoying this series fast paced good narration and characters , suspenseful , but same as first book you have to read the next book as no ending , in my view the books in this series could have been longer and less books in series but I suppose the author wants to make as much money as they can.. But enjoyable would recommend
