Narrated by:
Brad Gushue is one of Canada’s most accomplished athletes, known for his exceptional skill, strategy, and leadership in the sport of curling. Born in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Gushue began curling at a young age and quickly rose through the ranks, winning the 2001 World Junior Curling Championship and putting Newfoundland and Labrador on the map with fans across the country.
His career reached a defining moment at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy, where he led Team Canada to a gold medal—the first ever for a team from Newfoundland and Labrador. Alongside teammates Russ Howard, Mark Nichols, and Jamie Korab, Gushue’s rink delivered an unforgettable performance that cemented his place in curling history. He has since continued to compete at the highest level, winning multiple Brier championships and representing Canada at numerous World Curling Championships.
Beyond his on-ice achievements, Gushue has been a respected ambassador for curling and a source of pride for his province.
In this personal memoir, written with award-winning journalist Stephen Brunt, Gushue reflects on a remarkable life and career—from quitting hockey at thirteen to pursue curling, to the relentless work ethic that made him a champion. Gushue: The Making of a Champion is a candid look at perseverance, leadership, and the powerful influence of home and family.
