Guns are a black and white issue, right? Well, it's not quite that simple.
This book covers every aspect of the gun debate in the US - from hunting to mass shootings to questions about constitutional rights, no angle is left unexplored. Written mostly as the current debate about guns and gun control was heating up, you'll find well-written and thought out points here as well as introspection about the dangers inherent in an armed and sometimes unstable society. Questions about what the Second Amendment is really for and the seeming ubiquity of violence in society are juxtaposed against concrete concerns about self-protection, tradition, and the clash of cultures in a fantastically listenable and engaging format that moves at a breathless pace. One of the only books that presents every side of the issue, this is a must-listen for those even moderately interested in the topic.
©2016 The Thought & Expression Co. (P)2016 Audible, Inc.People who owns guns, advocate for gun ownership and the rights to carry guns at least offers a non passionate philosophical argument for their positions, with historical context like what the Ottoman Empire, the Communist, Fascists and other everyone agrees evil leaders of nations had done, after they collected all the guns owned by the people; England with a tradition of Free Speech dating back to Edward the Confessor, (1042ad - 1066ad) is now putting people in prison for social media postings that is deemed offensive by someone, and if you dare to defend yourself or family from a home invasion, you're the criminal and liable for whatever harm your attacker receives less than 30 years after they made it close to impossible for the average Englishman to own a firearm. To think they sent James II packing off to France, in disgrace, after he tried to disarm the English People.
1854, George Frizhugh, Democratic Party Intellectual, advocated for the repeal of the Second Amendment and complete disarming of the People, emphasizing "There's Just Too Many Tragedies With Civilian Ownership of Arms" (Sounds familiar) as well as a complete rewriting of the US Constitution to enslave HALF of the White population as Serfs. Got to get all the guns because too many people would resist their enslavement.
A bunch of self considered intellectuals making emotional appeals
