"When Poppy Wainwright's grandmother dies, she travels from her home in Arkansas to live with her grandmother's older sister, Sookie, in Savannah, Georgia. 'Your Grandma Lainey was a self-righteous nit-wit,' Sookie tells Poppy upon their first meeting, 'and if I had the gumption, I'd drive myself up to Mountain Home and spit on her freshly dug grave.' Sookie is everything Poppy's grandmother was not: atheistic, slovenly, suspicious, prone to vendettas, and completely lacking any verbal filter." (Kirkus Reviews)

Publisher's Summary
Winner of the 2020 Independent Audiobook Award, General Fiction category.
For the Temple women, the winds of change are blowing. And if they're not careful, it could sweep them all away.
After rising from Temple servant to tea shop owner, Violet finally feels in charge of her destiny. While learning Gullah folk magic from her aging grandmother, she worries much of her cultural heritage will be lost to the grave. Is there enough time for Old Sally to pass down all her special wisdom?
Bride-to-be Queenie has never felt younger at heart. Engaged to the man of her dreams, the feisty 60-year-old won't let anything ruin her big day - not even ancestral ghosts or a mysterious wedding crasher.
Rose's southern roots run deep. Even after three decades away, she can still feel the shadow of her deceased high-society mother watching her every move. Can she shake her ghost and find a place among her family?
With a storm of trouble brewing across the island, the Temple women will have to survive more than a force of nature to put their ghosts to rest.
Gullah Secrets is the sequel to the best-selling novel Temple Secrets. If you like Southern gothic literature, characters you won't want to close the cover on, and locations steeped in history, then you'll love this hilarious and warmhearted saga.

So Glad There Was A Sequel to Temple Secrets
I’m so glad Susan Gabriel wrote this sequel to Temple Secrets. She began where the other left off.Her characters were as lively as ever and the reader was full of nothing but joy for them. This extended bi-racial family proved that color of skin didn’t matter, it’s what’s in your heart that matters. A great summer at the beach story. The narrator was fantastic with her dialect making each character believable as well as bringing them to life. Thoroughly enjoyed both Temple Secrets and Gullah Secrets.

The story is a rerun
I have loved other books by this author but not this one. Unfortunately, it was a repeat of the other books. Nothing new here, and a lot of long, boring remembrances. There was a new character introduced in this book that seems like an afterthought and came with a very lame storyline that was not at all developed. It's almost as if the author realized that there was no story here and threw in Heather at the last minute to have some sort of "plot". I really wanted to love this book, as I have loved others by this author, but I didn't. Maybe if you've never read a book by this author, you might like this book.

Repeats the same information every chapter
This sequel is not good at all. The author keeps repeating the same information from the last book...in every chapter! I thought it would get better as it went on, but here I am at chapter 12 (Violet? and the 1st few sentences are repeating how Edward contested the will, the house burnt down. Whenever it’s Rose talking, she ALWAYS has to mention his Edward was mean as a child and cut off part of her finger. Jesus! We get it! We read it only 100 times now. Did the author run out of content or something? Ugh!!
