Lola Gándara es el seudónimo literario de Dolores González Lorenzo. Nació en Celanova (Orense) en 1942, aunque vive en Vigo desde hace unos años. En primer lugar estudió Derecho. Tras terminar la carrera se dedicó a la enseñanza y decidió estudiar Filología Hispánica. Actualmente es profesora de Lengua y Literatura Española en un instituto de Vigo, y escribe textos tanto en castellano como en gallego.
Durante años dirigió una compañía de teatro infantil y ha participado en diversos proyectos dramáticos, con los que ha ganado varios premios como el Premio Camiño de Santiago 1993 y 1994. También ha ejercido como guionista de programas televisivos. Su novela Brumas de octubre supuso su primera incursión en literatura castellana y con ella obtuvo el Premio Gran Angular 1994. Previamente había logrado un accésit del Premio O Barco de Vapor en 1993 con Conxurados.
