Old-school creature feature, psychological horror, suspense, B-Movie cheese, humor, dystopia, and extreme horror so dark that it will leave a mark inside - West refuses categorization. But the one constant to his work: It is always one hell of a ride. Gruesome: A Gathering of Nightmares collects some of his best fiction.

Title Says it All

There are 11 good short stories, some were great some ok but enjoyed listening to book. A few worth mentioning are Picaro, Southern Fried Hex, Turning Face and Morsel to name a few. Recommend to anyone who enjoys horror shorts and if you enjoy this book check out West/Shea other books as just as sick. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. Thank you

Fantastic Stories

I like this set of stories and they weren’t the USUAL ones. The characters are very well developed and I laughed at many parts. Bryan Anderson did a good job with narration. I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, narrator, and/or publisher. I voluntarily left this review.

This is a very entertaining collection of macabre tales. They're not for the squeamish though.

Kinda sad..

It's VERY rare that I don't finish is book... but this was just painful. The whole "collection " was about the same main plot minus a bonus track or two. The female voice narrator was pretty hard to listen to. Every sentence ended as if she was surprised! But the story couldn't save the speakers, because it just wasn't there.

Horror Short story collection

Honestly nothing really stands out, some are bad, some are good but most are simply okay. Not really something i would recommend someone spend a credit on.

Awful, awful, awful

Everything about this is awful. The voices, the stories, the emotion, just so bad! I couldn’t even get through an hour. The stories I could stomach to listen were so boring it was like I was back in high school. I’m not expecting Shakespeare, but give me something to hook me. But the real problem are the readers! They sound like text to speech! They switch between a dull tone like they are a text to speech program to sounding like they are school librarians reading to kindergarteners. The “accents” are laughably bad and I couldn’t focus on what they were saying because they were just so annoying. Skip this mess!

Title DEFINITELY says it all

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review. So, the title definitely captures this collection well. They are all very gruesome and gory tales of horror. They are brutal and well written tales of horror. The narration is great and really captures the tone of the stories well. Worth checking out if you like that sort of thing.

Solid Horror Collection

I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review and I'm glad I did. I've been aware of Terry West's work for a little while and enjoyed Cecil and Bubba. This was the perfect opportunity to experience his more extreme horror. I appreciated the way he manages to make things more extreme in a kind of minimalistic way. His scenes have significant impact without spending a lot of time going through a laundry list of gore. The performance was a little more uneven. Oftentimes the voice actors were having discussions as the characters but it sounded like they were just listing what they were saying. It definitely improved through the book so I'd suggest they consider recording the first couple stories again. Overall definitely an enjoyable experience and one I'd recommend. Standouts being it makes you sad and morsel as they pack as much punch as Honger in a smaller package.

Great story

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. The book was entertaining and I enjoyed the story. I thought the narration was a little over the top even though I believe that’s what they were shooting for.
