Acerca de esta escucha

Struggling with anxiety, health, relationships? Wondering why all these things are happening to you? Do you wonder where God is in the middle of all this mess? Gripped is more than the relatable struggle over good and bad choices, more than dealing with life's difficulties, more than understanding God's message; it is the necessary empowerment for us to find the one thing we all need: An understanding of God's love for us and it all starts with knowing our place in the Universe.

Gripped is an inspiring allegorically written memoir of a young woman who was gripped by life's many challenges and much adversity through relationships, single-motherhood, and a lifetime of illness. It is also a spiritual growth journal as it is written in fantasy story-form in three perspectives - a Destroyer, a Protector, and the Image-Bearer. Listeners will be captivated and empowered as they are able to relate to the Image-Bearer as she handles the bitter cold of strife, illness and destruction, and the protective warmth of light and truth.

As Destroyer's presence dominated her life, the Image-Bearer lost her own identity. She felt worthless and sought love and validation in all the wrong places while a Protector continually whispered words of truth and love. Words she couldn't hear until one day God powerfully broke through the chaos to remind her who she is.

I Wasn't So Gripped

This is the bare all story of a Christian woman trying to find a foundation and stability in her life. The book was heavy in Christianese, Bible verses, and anecdotes of her health issues. I couldn't follow her at times maybe it's just me, but anecdotes and narration seemed to not always connect and flow. Lots of weedy words, as a writer we try to avoid these, a professional edit should have gotten those. Overall, it wasn't as compelling as I hoped it would be. I felt preached at and had heard many of the scriptures before that alot of which she seemed to dump on you at the end. I am sorry to leave such a poor review but she asked for honest, and I'm honest. She did great with dialogs and getting into characters' heads with point of view, but it was lacking a strong, compelling why and I don't know what the point of the book was. Gripped is a great title, but gripped with what? not sure she addressed that at all clearly. maybe Gripped (by God?) also, there were clear miss speaks on the recording and it should have been edited better. I hope this review doesn't discourage her because she should keep writing and pursuing sharing her testimony to how God healed her, but also encourage her to sharpen her writing skills and story elements. Kudos for being brave and telling your story creatively and thoroughly.
