Publisher's summary

Dane Prescott spends his days staring at perfect holes, and knows how to use his stiff shaft to get there. He's as hot as he is good at the sport he loves more than breathing. Dane has one goal and one goal only, to be on the professional golf tour. It's who he is and what he lives for. Women, although fun, aren't in his long-term plans.

Beverly Whitfield didn't start off as the confident woman she is today. Teased mercilessly as a child and always feeling second-best, she set out to change her future and is finally putting herself first. Never in her wildest imagination did she think she'd fall for a man with stunning good looks and sex seeping from his pores. And, oh yeah, he plays golf.

Intended for listeners over the age of 18.

Loved the emotion!

I have been looking for a book that would grab me. I couldn't put this down, and with Aiden Snow in the mix....

The ending grabbed on and the emotion Aiden added almost had me in tears. It didn't help that Beverly was relatable as someone who was also big most of her life and grew up with teasing and bullying.

Hot & Sexy romance with a side of sweet!

Gripped is book 2 in the Prescott series but can be read as a standalone. I hadn't read the first book and was not lost at all. I enjoyed the complete story and didn't feel like I missed anything.

Dane is a definite man-whore who can't even be bothered to remember a woman's name. He puts golf above all else and is totally focused on teaching golf and making it on the pro tour.

"...stretching in golf is like foreplay before sex. You can't just thrust right into it and not expect a bit of pain."

Beverly has low self esteem issues stemming from her bad body image and teasing when she was a teen. She is insecure and has a hard time trusting others. She hates golf and feels like she has always taken a back seat to her father's love of golf her whole life.

"...don't ever put this sport before love. Golf will always be there; love might not be."

Two people coming from two extreme opposite lives cause some exciting sparks! Gripped is super hot and sexy romance with a side of sweet!
This was my first book by Joanne Schwehm and will certainly not be my last!!!

I listened to this audiobook and loved the great narration. I will definitely keep narrators Aiden Snow and Megan Tusing on my must listen list!

Contemporary Romance

What did you love best about Gripped?

Cute guy has to work hard to get the girl.

What other book might you compare Gripped to and why?

Maybe The chesapeake Bay series by Nora Roberts. Each book in the series is about one of the brothers all sexy and hot but sweet too..

What about Aiden Snow and Megan Tusing ’s performance did you like?

Timing was great as were the voices of the characters.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

No.

Any additional comments?

One of the better contemporary romance books I have read. I am impressed by the author Joanne Schwehm.

4.5 Gripping Stars!

This romantic and sexy family saga captured me right from the start and never let go! Dane is so sweet and sexy and is everything I want in my hero. Beverly had a privileged upbringing but was bullied by her peers. She has left that life and only wants to help others. Dane has only focused on Golf and making the pros. Women throw themselves at him and he has had so many conquests, never remembering their names. That is until he meets Beverly. She is beautiful, funny, kind, and hates golf. But the sparks fly instantaneously and all their reservations are forgotten. I really like Dane and Beverly, they have fun together and their chemistry is explosive. I also love the relationship Dane has with his family, their connection and banter add so much fun to the story. The narrators did a fabulous job setting each scene, and flawlessly moved from one character to the next. I was never confused with who was talking and the inflections were spot on. This is a swoony and sexy, fun and flirty romance with enough angst and emotion to keep you engaged from start to finish. I highly recommend this book!

Aiden Snow Makes Golf Sound So SMEXY

Any additional comments?

I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review. I have only listened to an audiobook narrated by Aiden Snow once before, PULSE - The Complete Series: Part One, Part, Two, Part Three & Part Four, although I do have several other titles in my library waiting their turn. His performance in Gripped is very smoldering, sexy, panty melting, and is right up there with my SebYo obsession. I will now be very excited to located and purchase more audiobooks narrated by Aiden Snow. The female performer also did an excellent job and helped to bring this story to life. This was my first experience with Megan Tusing's work, even though her voice sounds similar to Erin Mallon and other great narrators, and she didn't disappoint. I had previously purchased the ebook and audible discounted upgrade for the first book in the Prescott Series, Incumbent which was narrated by Tracy Marks and liked how I knew more of the characters back stories. However, I was pleased this story gives enough back story that it can be read/listened to as a stand-alone or continuation. This was also my first experience with the author Joanne Schwehm and found her writing style to be up there with my favorite romance authors such as Emma Chase, Kristen Proby, Corrine Michaels, Meghan March, and Lauren Blakely. I highly recommend this audiobook and look forward to the release of the third book in the series, Charmed. Go Gretchen and Mason.

Gripped grips you.

This was my first time listening to these narrators and hearing anything by this author. I really liked the characters. The story sort of grabs you from the start. Both Beverly and Dane were very interesting characters, as were all of the side characters. The writing was engaging. At times, Beverly only slightly annoyed me blaming herself for everything, and her very reasonable reactions on being insecure. I mean, seriously. If the guy can't be bothered to call or send a text to just say "Hi" while being gone for weeks at a time, moving on and not waiting around shouldn't have been a second thought. It's not insecure to not be willing to wait around to see if he can be bothered to check in. Checking in is common courtesy and the actions of a guy that's into you. And, when she called him, he acted like he couldn't be bothered. No one is that busy. But, I still really liked her character otherwise. Dane is just clueless and not used to communicating and being considerate where women are concerned. They were both still likeable characters despite their flaws.

Once, they'd resolved their differences, the story did seem to drag a little for me, added events feeling a tiny bit contrived. However, the narration in those scenes went from fantastic to superb.

Aiden Snow and Megan Tusing did a really great job right from the beginning. And, I'm always wary of these dual narrations. When they're good, they're good. When they aren't...well they just aren't. But, luckily this duo worked out nicely. But, Aiden Snow out did himself when it got to some pretty intense and emotional scenes. Just wow! Was already impressed and then was further impressed with the depth of the performance. Overall a very satisfying listen.

Fantastic book but I'm loyal to the first one

Gripped: Prescott series, book 2

by, Joanne Schwehm
Narrators: Aiden Snow, Megan Tusing

I absolutely love the first book in the series "Incumbent". It checked every box and was the icing on the top of the cake. If you read my review on it, you will see that I could not wait for the rest of the series.

Gripped was a little bit disappointing to me compared to Incumbent. Gripped was not as complex. Hot, bad boy, one night only with a woman, Dane Prescott is on his way to make the PGA Tour. He has had the luxury of coming from a wealthy family with parents and siblings who love, care and support him in everything (except maybe the one night stands.)

Dane meets Beverly at a country club event that neither of them wanted to attend. From there on out their relationship IS ON! By relationship I mean something that's a little bit different for Dane and completely different for Beverly.

While I can't give it 5 stars, it came pretty close – 4 stars for the story, 4.5 stars for the performance and 4.25 overall and I cannot wait for the next Prescott book!!!!!

Nice suprise

If you could sum up Gripped in three words, what would they be?

Not your standard golf book... sorry can`t do 3 words well... :-)

What was one of the most memorable moments of Gripped?

The hospital scene was the most memorable for me, and most heartfelt

Which scene was your favorite?

Xmas morning, loved that it was just beautiful.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

If at first you don`t succeed.......

Any additional comments?

Aiden & Megan both did a great job bringing the story to life, and yeah I agree with one of the other reviewers... Aiden can do sexy just as, if not better then SebYork...LOL

Way more entertaining than I exspected

Would you consider the audio edition of Gripped to be better than the print version?

Yes! The voice actors are brilliant and really bring the story to life. The story moved fluently and listening rather then reading made it that much better

What other book might you compare Gripped to and why?

Stealing home by Nicole Williams. Both the Hero's are swoon worthy and while they loved their sport they new what their heart wanted and how to prioritize.

What does Aiden Snow and Megan Tusing bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

They are brilliant. The characters were acted out to perfection and it was so much fun to listen too. Aiden snow has a voice that can rival SebYo for swoony and sexy.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Grip more than just your clubs, grip your heart.

Any additional comments?

I am not a golf fan, so I was unsure if I would enjoy this book, but I loved "Incumbent" book 1 so I wanted to check it out. I am so glad I did. This is such a great story, a major theme deals with insecurities, and moving past them. It was done amazingly and in a fun way. So worth a credit, and if you are like me about golf, don't let that prevent you from trying it out, it is worth it! I received this audiobook from audiobook boom for free for my unbiased review.
