Suspicions are raised that the crashes were not accidental. The students were working on a National Science Foundation grant designed to solve global warming by seeding the Gulf with iron and removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Rumours are circulating among the maritime community and local environmentalists that the project will cause the bayous to fill with algae, turn green, and ruin fishing and shrimping.
